Wow, she’s doing well. Such a gap with everyone this year. Some with nothing yet, others under way, and some like yours nearly there. Wonder if things will even out and slow down for the food source? Good luck with yours anyway Beechnut, you may be front runner for first egg. Close call between you and Kathy I think. Sue

This is the nest this morning - I can't tell whether there is anything under the top layer. It was similar yesterday with perhaps a little less white downy stuff, but she was hardly in the nest all day. Roosted last night, has been in once this morning and dropped a small bunch of white stuff. I shall endeavour to set the timer for 5am to 7am for tomorrow (did that for today but forgot to switch it on! )

Lovely cosy looking nest. I've decided that all the action is happening before 9 am in my garden. Maybe I've just been putting the cameras on too late. Good luck with the laying

Thanks guys. I've preset the timer, I just hope I've got the right plugs in the right sockets - there's such a tangle of cables under the desk, it's difficult to see which are 100% live and which are timed to be live at different parts of the day/night. Sammi I try to get a recording started just before dawn, then I can usually watch her waking up and get a look into the nest cup - but it's very hit and miss because GTs are expert at covering the cup while still hiding what is in it! I don't know about BTs, never having had a BT nest.

Beechnut, when is the earliest you’ve had laying start over the years?

Paul - I reckon last year was the earliest, around 3rd or 4th of April.
Unfortunately I stopped backing up everything when it was available on the Bigg Forum. My wallbox was built in 2012 I think and before that I had a box with camera for about 4 years in the cherry tree. The last records on disc that I have are from 2014.
I have a few records still on the hard drive from last year and I have an image of 6 eggs on 10th April, and I seem to remember her missing one day, so that would take us back to 3rd April.

Well the timer kicked in at 5am this morning, and the camera was switched on and the DVR started, but there was a problem with the latter and although the recording light was on, nothing was recorded!
I've been messing about with it all morning, finally erasing everything from the hard drive and starting from scratch.
It did record a couple of minutes on a trial run, despite there being nothing live in the box, so hopefully something will be on the hd when we get back later this afternoon.
Tuppence came back to the box a couple times this morning early on, with some downy stuff, but she's not been back in since.

Didn't show me anything when she came in to roost about 6-20pm Sue. I'll see if she reveals anything when she gets up in the morning, assuming the DVR works OK.

Tuppence was already awake when the camera switched on this morning at 5am, stretching and pruning.
The nest cup covered over - so I still haven't a clue regarding eggs.

Any other clues Beechnut? Is she sitting on the nest during the day or is she still building?

You’ll have to set that timer earlier beechnut

Already reset it to 0430 Paul.
She's not really building Matt, she pays very infrequent visits, perhaps 4 or 5 during the day and drops a downy bit or feather then leaves.
My guess is that she's not started laying yet.
