I am a little early making my thread for next year, However today I have switched one of my boxes for a log box and put an IP camera inside it. I ended up buying a woodpecker log box from CJ wildlife - www.birdfood.co.uk/malmo-woodpecker-nest-boxIdea behind this is so it was large enough to house the camera / wires inside the box in a false roof and I was able to get the entrance hole in shot! So spent some time turning the woodpecker log box into a tit log box its just very large but it worked perfectly really happy with it! Here's some pictures below of the new box Hopefully I will be more active during 2022, I have settled into my new job now and everything is going well, So should be able to post on here more during spring! I am not making any extra changes for next year now this was the only change I have had planned! Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to seeing any changes others are making for the new season

great to hear from you Paul, glad the job is going well. Excellent idea to use a woodpecker box I am sure the birds will take to it with its modifications. Really look forward to see what next seasons bring I have noticed around my garden that we have a good population of BTs I counted 8 in one go a few days ago, plenty of young mixed in with them, so hope that bodes good things next year. In the meantime my rooster came back early September I believe it is Kate, she sleeps in the exact same position. Have your roosters come back yet? Hogs are very quiet though, not had any food eaten for a few weeks but I recall a quiet spell last year this time too, so hopefully they will be back soon.

Just popped on to see if there was any news from anyone re roosters etc and was gobsmacked to see your post about Covid Paul. So hope you have a very swift recovery - sounds as though it has hit you hard despite the jabs. Wishing you well really soon . Ps loving the new box and the fact that it has attracted a rooster already. Sue

Thank you everyone, I did post it on twitter a few days back but I know most dont use it. I am 10 days into it now and I still feel like death, I woke up on Thursday morning unable to breath good and my lungs was so sore, At first I thought It was just the flu until Thursday morning so I went straight for a PCR test at 11am, I had the results by 10pm telling me I am positive. The NHS have been calling me daily, Making sure I am okay and making sure I am isolating etc, I must say they have been amazing! I just hope I start feeling okay soon, Apparently it could be a few months before I get my taste and smell back, I do believe if I wasn't double jabbed i'd be in hospital right now though. Luckily, I had time off work when I first got sick and I hadn't been seeing my little nan because I was poorly. I was going to see her but something stopped me thank god because now I know why I am so sick. I'll be fine though guys, The woman from the NHS thinks its at its "peak" with me right now so things should calm down soon

I've just popped on to see the news. I hope you get better soon Paul. It sounds like you had it really bad. Thank goodness for the vaccine. It is frightening thinking about what it would be like with no protection at all
At least you have the roosters. I hope it bodes well for the spring for you. I have a bluetit rooster in the lovely side view box you sent so I'm hoping for a nest in there. The sparrows seem to be guarding another box for the spring too so fingers crossed I get a nest and babies this year.

We've got our 5th blue tit rooster, In the tree box. Its funny because for the last 3 years we've had a female start roosting in his box from the second week of January and of course go on to nest build in March. Here it is tonight So the tree box and log box are getting the most visits, I think the log box is female aswell its getting cleaned out daily. Starling box, Matt's stone 3 hole box, Log box, Side box and Tree box all have blue tit roosters right now, I think 5 is the most roosters I have ever had i'll have to look over my notes from past years but things are certainly heating up

Little robin still building in our bird box, Little video below, Sorry for the poor quality its shot through my garage window! You can get a perfect view of the box from the garage, If you look closely you'll see her flying into the box with the material after she goes into the ivy.

Great to see Paul. I'm trying to set up a trail camera to capture my robin activity....it's proving a bit tricky! I've got a Ceyomur CY70, but to get a close enough focus I've had to put some cheap +2 reading glasses lenses over the front. But now getting it secured close enough to the nest without causing any disturbance is going to be a real challenge.

Camera as been successfully mounted by the robin box and is on the telly, after laying the first egg she missed a day, then laid egg 2 yesterday and egg 3 this morning. So 3 eggs so far I think she had 5 eggs for the first brood last year. I managed to mount a camera on a brush pole in the flower pot under the box and put a cut up water bottle over it to stop any rain all pictures below! Nice close up view this year compared to last This is how its mounted on the pole
