I thought I would set the page up early. I've no idea if we have any roosters as the window had to be closed so the cameras were taken out of the boxes. We have two wires through a hole in the wall ( goodness knows what the new owners of this house will say when we eventually go ) and these monitor the hedgehog feeding station and the hedgehog house. Our resident hedgehog Christina is still active so we have something to watch. Wishing you all a lovely, trouble free Christmas and a truly wonderful 2024 (hopefully with lots of nests and happy fledglings) See you in the Spring

Ooops not quite ready Hubby is the main ladder man and he's had a new hip so I managed to get the camera on but haven't been able to get the lights on yet. I struggle with all the wires

There has been interest in this box too. The bits of grass are from last year. I will have to get up the ladder and sort out the wires on both boxes. The little light wires take some fitting in

Looks very promising Sammi. Loved the fact that your birds are so keen they are ignoring the wiring in with them. Hoping hubby is able to climb the ladder again soon. My box is disgusting - the female is trying to clean all the poo from the male rooster but he just keeps coming each night and giving her more work to do . May have to take it down to clean it but very precarious job where it is and hubby not too keen to do it . Sue

Thanks Karen,Ann and Sue I'm glad spring is in the air after a grey winter. I hope you all get that nest this year We didn't have any roosters as far as I know but one bx is yet to be wired up. Hubby is well on the way to ladder work I think but I will give it a try myself first just in case Sue I hope your lady gets on top of the cleaning to save you a job. I seem to remember they can do a good job of clearing up after messy males. Good luck to all.

Well my dear hubby went against my advice and fixed up the wiring to the other boxes. Thankfully his new hip seemed happy to oblige So the state of things at the moment. In the patio box we have had sparrows showing interest but this has happened before and no nest went to completion. The sparrows fight off attention from the bluetits but this year the bluetits have been showing some interest in the box that had the wires at the bottom for a while. Again hubby fixed that. The last box to go up was my greenfeathers long box and I am saying this in a whisper because I don't want to jinx things...there are a pair of great tits interested My dream has been to have great tits nesting. Could this be the year? Last year went without a nest in any of the boxes so I am not getting any hopes up yet as no nesting material has appeared in any box. I think I have caught up with you all and there seems to be much better progress in your nests. I hope things will liven up down here soon.

Thanks for all the nest wishes Sadly fate has dealt a timely blow Even though j evicted the snail that had taken to sitting on the camera lens this is the view today. I think I may need a new camera

Oh Sammi thatβs awful. Is it just slime on the lens or something more permanent? Feel so sorry for you. π’. Maybe it will clear Sue

Thanks Sue I did give the lens a cursory wipe when I evicted the snail but if there's not much interest I might give it a proper wipe but as you know it's never that easy getting to the box especially at my age I wonder how slime affects the lens.

I probably beat you in age Sammi hence I wasnβt prepared to climb up to clean out my box when Iβm looking to fall from four floors up. If you can I would try another wipe with something - bit cheaper than a new camera if it works. Good luck. Sue

Have you got any lens cleaning solution for glasses? Or perhaps a few drops of Windowleen or supermarket window/glass cleaner dropped onto a cotton bud or two. Gently rub the cotton bud (soaked in the solution) on the camera lens a few times. See if it improves. If it does, do it again a few times until it's sorted. I suspect the snail slime might have dried up and left a residue - you need something that'll dissolve it that dries quickly itself.
