Finally, after 3? long years, I have a GT that has built in my Wallbox. She started building towards the end of March and finally today has left the cup uncovered showing 8 eggs. I am keeping everything crossed that nothing has gone wrong because she hasn't been back for about half an hour!

Thanks ladies - It's good to be back with something interesting to share. I have been so disappointed over the last few years with nothing of my own to write about that I completely lost interest in the forum. I've even forgotten how to get the films and photos on the website ( Might be something to do with age! - I have to write most things down these days).
It was a pleasant surprise to see the 8 eggs in the nest this morning, I've looked every day - morning and night - to see the nest building since the first bit of moss appeared, but never viewed anything that might have been an egg! Every morning everything was covered when I switched on and every evening I checked around 7pm to catch her coming in, she would settle on the cup and with a wiggle or two had her head under her wing with never showing the slightest hint of an egg.
I haven't connected up my programmable recorder yet as I was not expecting the sight I was greeted with this morning, so I suppose that's the next thing that I will have to dig out the instructions for!
Anyway best of luck to all you guys (old and new) out there with your boxes etc for a successful season, and I'll be keeping you informed with regards to mine. ( Haven't named them yet - mind you haven't seen the male so far.)

Hi Beechnut I haven't tried to post a picture for ages. I've just gone on to post images to remind myself and I seem to remember you use the direct link ( copy) and paste it into insert photo on here. I think you needed to delete a space that somehow occurs in front of the link. I'm going to see if it works as that sounds confusing

Wow Beechnut, superb seeing all those eggs. Such a lovely sight. . If you get stuck again there is a post about how to insert images to your post etc right above our conversations on this part of the forum. Reading through this always helps me remember cause each year I have to practice and refresh this old memory of mine. Well done you 👏🏻 Sue

Thanks everyone - I read those instructions but still couldn't get the photo displayed on my posting, only the URL(?) but it seems as if you all could see it, so I'll have to settle with that. The long lay-off hasn't done me any good at all. (I'm 83 now and forgetting more things than I remember! )

I am a few years younger than you and have great difficulty with anything technical so am sure I will be useless at 83. Technology going too fast for people like us that didn’t grow up with it. The URL works so don’t worry about anything else. Looking forward to all your updates. Sue

I had trouble remembering how to upload a picture. I'm sure they change things just to frustrate us. On my screen the direct link to use is just below the url one. The url works well though so I would stick with that. I find videos easier to share as I keep forgetting how to use post images I would love to have Great tits nesting but somehow they pass my boxes by.

It's sad that so many on here are not getting GT and BT nests in their boxes this year - we can only hope that when the weather settles down things might change.
My GT is still sitting on her 8 eggs (must think of some names!) which should be hatching somewhere around 24th April.
The next thing I need to do is get some mini mealworms. I had a look yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices were so reasonable (LivefoodsDirect), I was expecting at least a doubling in price after all the problems over the last two or three years. Anyway I'll leave that until next week - I've sorted out my adapted feeder, which hasn't been used for 3 years and hope that they will use it when the time comes.

Sounds as though things are going really well at yours Beechnut, so that’s lovely. Does seem a strange year with so few nests yet being built. I so hope things do pick up or the numbers of these little birds will dwindle quickly . Fingers crossed it is just a temporary det back. Looking forward to seeing pics of your chicks which are looking likely to be the first on the forum. Sue

Decided to call them Mack and Milly. Caught Mack bringing a morsel in for Milly today - that's the first time I've seen him - still not got the recorder rigged up. the cables are in a box at the bottom of a pile in the corner of "the office" (spare room).
