As of tonight, we have a BT roosting in the main tree box. Maybe the manic-pecking female? I'm assuming so. Entered around 6.15pm

First material being brought in this morning... .....this is exactly the same date as last year. I'm out of the UK at the moment and just connected to hotel wifi - obviously the first thing I did was check the camera app , and saw the motion alerts with the snapshot pics of the female bringing in moss....

Great news Pete. Hope things progress nicely. All quiet at ours apart from a pesky wasp in one box keeps getting my hopes up

She took all the material out later in the day yesterday, and it looks like she's spent all of today faffing about with no material being brought back in. She's roosting in there tonight, though, by the looks of things,so wait and see what happens tomorrow I guess!

Exactly the same with mine Pete, and also the same happened last year (early start, material in/out for weeks, ultimately did nest!). All due to this bad weather IMO but sounds as if she has chosen.

Some more material back in today after what looks like loads more faffing. She's roosting in there tonight. Guess she'll start properly building in due course when the time is right. Where I am now is blazing sunshine 20degs so hard to gauge the local conditions! Grateful my camera app allows me to monitor things though

Back in the UK now. BTs have been busy while I've been away. Nesting material building up by the day. Lots of coming and going.

Oh dear - it seems there's an inquisitive Great Tit on the prowl, having a sneaky peek at the BT nest-in-progress So far hasn't seemed to deter the BT nest building though, so fingers crossed all will be well without any confrontation...

Busy BT time over the past few days...the moss is building up, with layers of stripped stalks off nearby flowering shrubs, and today the feathers and fluffy bits are starting to be added. The little nest cup is taking shape, thanks to regular wriggles and shuffles. All in all making good progress... However, a pair of GTs are still quite interested in this box and have popped in on a few occasions to check it out. They seem a bit puzzled by all the nesting material....not clear if it's making them think twice, or whether they're hoping to usurp the poor BTs. Will have to wait and see...!

Certainly wasting no time Pete! Our female is in no rush right now I mean a cup is forming but I think over the next few days she will smash it.

She is doing great Pete, hope all continues well and the GTs get their own place. One thought I had to deter them, place a nest box hole plate that just for BTs I think its 24mm, just a thought.

Still piling up the material - more feathers and fluff, but still the odd bit of moss.
