They've all fledged this morning! Within the space of about 45 mins - #2 went early, followed by a flurry of #3 #4 #5 + #6, then just two left for a while, then off goes #7, and about 10 mins ago #8. Camera allowed me one video of the last two, with the moment #7 left the box.
Hope to see them around the garden, but I'm at work so will have to wait till later - and hope no cats were lurking under the tree this morning!

Here's the final motion detection image as #8 decided to take the plunge and follow its siblings out into the big wide world - leaving behind what looks to be at least one unhatched egg. Pretty amazing moment when you think that the whole process started with the BTs checking out the box back in Jan/Feb. Wish more people could witness this - I think if more of us could see just what a monumental effort it is for species like this to breed, we might treat our environment with a little more care!

Really is sad when they leave when you've spent so long watching them! I am sure you'll see them around the garden

Quick post-fledging comment if anyone's still lurking on here: I have to say I'm noticing so many blue tit calls around my area wherever there are trees and shrubs - I think at least round here it's clearly been a bumper year for breeding of this species. I suppose I'm more tuned-in to the calls now having seen/heard all the chicks in my box and everyone else's on here, but I'm hearing the same calls all over the place. It's really encouraging to think there might be a rise in the general blue tit population this year, and if it's true then that surely must bode well for next season for everyone. Fingers crossed! Happy Summer to you all.

Hopefully that is true Pete, shame not the case on this forum with so few nests this year. I think we all become attuned to their calls once we’ve had a nest. A happy Summer to you too Pete. Sue
