Yes, I believe it has hatched. I'm pretty sure that I have counted nine bodies, they wriggle so much that it's difficult to keep a count.
Both parents finding plenty of food, even if they do both fly straight past the mealworms π€·π€¦

Something has happened in our nest box today, the cup has caved in a little and the parent is behaving differently. The Chicks are being fed, but not as frequently and not being sat on at all. Not sure if a cat has managed to get around our spikes or another bird has got in. Just seen both parents in there together, but the Chicks are subdued π

Oh no! Really hope it's all ok. Thanks Pete, all seems well now, the Chicks seem to have settled down and the parents are acting more normal. I'm pretty sure I have counted nine Chicks still. Things aren't fully back to normal but getting there. The damage to the nest could easily have been another bird, not enough destruction for a cat π€·π€π€

Oh no. I hope things get back to normal and glad that you still have 2 parents to tend the brood. 9 chicks take a lot of feeding!

Thanks Sammi, yes, the parents are constantly back and forward today, she's not sat in the box at all, so she's got a bit of cleaning up to do from earlier. She was neglecting the poop sac removal earlier when things went wrong π€¦

Doesn't look like the female is going to sit on the nest tonight. The Chicks probably won't survive without her sitting. Not really sure what else I can do overnight π€·πͺ

Thanks Springtime and Starling, here is a little update.
Last night hubby frantically made a small heat block and hung it in the box just inside the entrance hole to help overnight. Poor man then got up at stupid o clock to remove it before the parents turned up. The parents turned up 20 mins later, again reluctant to go in at first. The Chicks all looked cold and not begging for the food, after a while and the sun coming up they all responded really well and both parents still feeding then.
I don't know if the nest will survive the next two weeks, we will have to see. If she does not sit tonight we'll probably put the heat source back in π€·

Oh Taz, only just catching up on this. So so sorry this is happening. Something must have badly spooked them, I so hope they survive . Your hubbie is wonderful, please tell him well done. I really really hope the parents settle down and the chicks get to be fed and looked after properly. So so upsetting and worrying for you. I truly am keeping everything crossed for a good outcome. Thanks Sue and Springtime66,
Hubby knows he's a keeper π.
She was a lot more settled yesterday, maintaining the nest well and both parents bringing lots of food.
Sadly she still didn't roost last night, so hubby put the heater in again, but put in on a place that can be left.
I think I've got the only nest box with central heating π€£π€¦
As for the Chicks, still 9 doing really well, lots of feeds.. I'm simply amazed they have all survived this long. Mind you the heating is on low today π

Just read this Taz - wow! What a strange set of circumstances. Still no idea what the culprit is? Strange that mum won't roost overnight but still comes back to tend to them during the day. Best of luck with them, hopefully the heater makes a difference. What is the heater anyway? I'm trying to imagine what you might be using, but I can't.

Thanks Matt and Starling, The heater is two HSA25 resisters wired together and connected to a power supply in our conservatory. He's a genius π
He's mounted them on metal strapping. After the parents went home last night, he took the Robin panel of and just bent the strap with the resistors on above the hole and put the panel back in place which also holds the strap in place.
The female was curious about it this morning, then had ignored it since.
