She want to make sure her nest is really comfortable cause sheβs going to be sitting in it for some while - who can blame her. Sue

Our male sparrow seems to have renewed his interest in nest construction and had a female showing some interest too. So I have everything crossed for 2 nests this year for the first time ever!!! The bluetits are on egg 3 and it's the same to the day as 2020.

Dotty is on her 5th egg and had a quick practice sit on them and finally hubby is caught on camera bringing her a little grub. The timing is identical to 2 yrs ago and that year we had 7 eggs. Sparrow Male still persevering with nest building with a bit of interest from a female

Dotty has laid 9 eggs and I think that must be the final count as she was on the nest most of yesterday. I must think of a name for Mr as he is now very much in the picture as he does a great job of taking snack in for her. The mealworms are going down a treat

Well I was surprised this morning. Hatching has started and I wasn't expecting it to start for a day or two. Mini mealworms on order and hopefully will arrive tomorrow.

Thanks all. It's a strange thing this incubation time. 2 yrs ago laying started on the exact same date but only 7 eggs were laid. Hatching that year and this started exactly on the same date so in my mind this year hatching should have been two days after the 7 egg nest of 2020??? Although there are always those half incubating days at the beginning that throw me Looks like a couple of unhatched eggs this morning still. I wonder if they will hatch ?
