I am happy to see him back, He went back to his box at 6:30am. Hedgehog rescue lady I speak to said he might come out for night or 2 to "top up" before going back asleep for a few more weeks with it going colder. We will have to see but very happy to see him, I have been so lucky to have them actually hibernate in the garden.

Oh he is bad Sammi for the food eats full bowl in one feeder then goes to another one in the garden and cleans that one just waiting for him to potter into the third feeder and do 3 bowls in one night wouldn't surprise me He is 100% making up for no food during hibernation let me tell you! Karen, Still time yet, He is the first one up here but he was also the first one to go down. We have 3 hibernating in the garden 2 still asleep and of course little angel in the house who still hasn't come up yet! I think its the ones that went down early coming up early my first hog wasn't until third week of march last year.

What is playing on my mind is I had no hogs visiting at the end of summer into Autumn when previous times I had loads and all through winter too, I just cant figure out why this would be, my hubby wondered if their pathway to the field could have been blocked somehow. But hopefully one will come along soon.

Hopefully that isn't the case Karen, Hedgehog rescue I talk too says the ones that go down early are waking up early because the fat they had stored is running out. Ones that went down later will still have fat left for the time being, Hopefully its the case for yours in the area.

Little Chip and Regulus! Back story on these is they was both hand reared and from Yorkshire! They're nest was disturbed and the mum left them (winter babies) the Yorkshire rescue they was at was shutting down and they got transferred to my local rescue They haven't been in the wild so the rescue have asked me to keep them in my enclosed back garden for 2 weeks let them get used to the houses and feeders before letting them out front into the wild with the other hogs! They was marked as babies for weighting etc Chip as grey on some of his spikes and regulus as red so everything in the back garden is ready for them and they will get their first taste of freedom tonight they have spent their full life in a cage! Chip is the male Regulus is the female both late 800g

Paul, a lovely photo & re the details: "both hand reared and from Yorkshire!" so now of course they are another of my favourite s! Yes, the bad news is that lots of places like Hedghog Rescue are closing or have already closed in Yorkshire because of lack of funds, a pony one going from memory. I despair everytime I watch our local news & hear of yet another charity which has had to close.
