So very sorry to hear about your wood pigeons Starling. Whilst I know it’s nature, it is very difficult to witness , and I have to say my love for magpies has somewhat diminished over some very distressing years watching them attack and predate nests. Good luck with your remaining nests and look forward to your updates. Sue

Really great pics you've posted - so sorry to read about the predation though. Look forward to seeing more of the starlings progress and the BTs. 👍

We get numerous Wood Pigeons nest attempts in our front berry shrub that climbs up the front of our house. Out of the 7 nests built over the last 7 seasons only 2 fledged without the eggs being predated by our local Magpies. Yet our street has about 5 or 6 pairs. I understand they can try about half a dozen times building a new nest in a new site every time. You're right Benn, it appears they are trying again, they seem to be checking out the bay tree once again but also have collared doves interested in the maple tree so we shall see

Managed to get a little pic of a starling chick today, they are growing fast and very noisy now! the bluetits are still incubating but the eggs should hatch any day .

The starlings should fledge any day now, have had to scare the crow and magpies away as they also know this and are waiting not a great pic will sort a better camera out for next year! the bluetits look like they have 7 chicks from the original 10 eggs, 1 failed to hatch, so it seems 2 have been lost but 1 looks very runty so they may be down to 6 soon fingers crossed at least 6 go on to make it to fledging I was at my allotment this morning and did not hear or see any activity in the two boxes I have in the apple trees so I am not sure if they have anything going on in them.
