Hope she is back soon Suep, I recall last year chico went AWOL for the whole day and Boulder was going hysterical calling for her, I was a nervous wreck just seeing the state he was in, so I know how you feel.

If its any peace of mind for you Sue, Tatty went "missing" for hours the other day, The male was in and out the box calling, After 5 hours I was getting abit worried. Then she popped up with a feather in her beak and was fine. I think sometimes they go for a little break, I mean I know cheryl needs a break from me sometimes!

Thanks Karen,Paul and Matt, so hope it is just a blip but this is the second day of no show so really worried. I feel like a mum watching the male searching and calling, I just want to reassure him, but with the noises heard yesterday morning are haunting me and so scared it was her being predated. So stupid but I am feeling really fretful and upset. Was sure laying had started too which makes it all the more sad. I really will try to stay positive that she will return but as the hours go on I am feeling it less likely. Thank you all. Sue

Dont feel stupid sue for feeling this way, we take these birds to out hearts and love them and look out for them like our own. So it is natural to be feeling so afraid, I really hope she is ok. Big virtual hug to you too.

You are far from stupid, We all get so attached to these little birds during the spring, We watch them from jan/ feb until may / june check out the box for weeks then nest build and raise a brood. You get really attached to them! I hope she is just having a break and comes back safe, Please keep us posted Sue.

sue they do test us so much and its been a very strange start this season, an early start with glorious weather then we have had so many dips in the temperature, they must be confused as we certainly are. i have had to completely blank my camera box, as that was such a disappointment to me a big hug from me and we await some news soon. as i type this i looked up one flew out of the box and two others flew away as well, does this explain the male on my other log box this morning, i hope it doesn't turn out with a fight over Martha. im going to have to keep looking out to what to is happening

Hi Paul and Elle, well i’ve watched until I can see no more and there has been no sign of her. The male hasn’t been seen now since about 3 pm. I truly feel that is it. Feel totally gutted. I will get up early just in case but I honestly think she has been predated. Will update in the morning. Thanks for understanding. Sue

Oh Sue don't worry. I'm sure my nest is about at the same stage as yours. Now I have monitoring software that picks up even a bird just holding on to the entrance hole. I have had no recording since about half two today. They can be in and out in a flash so it's easy to miss her. Boris today has been very vocal around the nest. I think honestly they are just around waiting for the signal to start so maybe she's not started laying yet and is just waiting till those oak trees are just right. I'm sure she'll be back Everything crossed for your lady.

Oh Sue, I hope this isn't true I had same thing with Margaret last year during egg laying if you remember. Was good job I had the two blue tit nests or I would of been even more gutted. If she as been killed it shows how fast these things can happen and how unsafe these little birds really are! I am just praying she pops up tomorrow, if you think she is egg laying though she should of come to roost shouldn't she? I am so gutted for you, Please let her be okay!! Please update us in morning Sue, I'll check your thread when I come online got everything crossed for you.

Thank you all so much for your care. I have been watching since before it was light enough to see anything, and as I type this my camera is recording in case I miss anything. There has been no sign of female and as of yet no visits by male. So upset and can’t get the noise I heard before she went missing out of my head!! . How I would love to be wrong about this one but I now don’t think so. i hope the rest of your birds all stay safe. They are so vulnerable out there with perils at every turn, Thank you ALL for your caring. I know I haven’t mentioned you all by name but you are all a wonderful bunch of people. Thank you. Sue Ps will update if any news

Awww Sue like Amanda, you where the first thought this morning. It really does show how precious all the little birds are out there!, and just how hard it is for them to produce & raise young successfully. If I were you Sue I would convince myself it was only another female bluetit fighting her off for territory (just chasing her away) rather than her being preditated! My heart goes out to you Sue Elle xx

Oh Sue I was so hoping you was wrong If you are getting no visits at all by male or female now why don't you go and open the box? Feel under inside the cup under the soft material and see if any eggs are in there most likely hidden. If she isn't laying eggs yet she should just be having few days off, Back in 2015 my female completed her full nest and I didn't see her for 6 days, I thought she had gone then she suddenly come back roosted and started egg laying. If theres no eggs in the nest its possible she could be doing something like this, Just gives you peace of mind to know what stage she was at and if theres still hope.

Hi everyone, a quick update. Still no sign of the female, but the male has returned twice this morning. If he hadn’t Paul I was going to check the nest but feel I should leave it as he is still ‘looking’. If I hadn’t heard the awful noises before she went missing I would not be so convinced. Each time he has appeared he just looks in the box then sits on the fence calling. As I type this he has just appeared again and hanging on to the hole just looking around. Once I know he is no longer coming I will check box properly. Sue

Yes Sue that is fair enough, I imagine it won't be much longer before he gives up looking for her if she as indeed been killed. I am so gutted for you I am hoping by some miracle she shows up today Please keep us posted.
