At first I thought it was going to be another vampire finger Sammi, like Matt's! Crumbs, he is a big fella isn't he - at least he left.

Paul At least it would be something nesting in my new box. What with wasps, bees and huge caterpillars...what next I ask myself? Kathy ...yes it's a caterpillar. A pretty large one too. Would feed a family of 12 bluetit babes Oak trees around here just about coming into leaf. The bluetits are amongst them just waiting for last trigger to lay I think. May's nest is almost complete and nesting going on until late in the afternoon so it can't be long now Diane and Elle.. yes it reminded me of ET and his glowing finger Spooked me out when I started to watch it. I thought of Matt's claw pic too. Sue ..well done for spotting the bird. I wish the camera hadn't gone into night mode so I could see the caterpillar in colour. Was lucky the box didn't have a nest of hungry mouths That would have been some horror movie Twinkle yes a lucky escape..

Nest building is going on well into the afternoon these last couple of days but still not looking finished. Is this May going for an extension? I've had visits to the fence box and the rooster patio nox today. A male (rooster male?) trying to entice a lady in. She briefly surveyed the piles of poo and feathers and left. I wish I could tell them apart. Is the male in the Boxwatch box my Rooster man? Who knows....you need eyes in the back of your head and running shoes on to keep track.

Oh Sammi, Don't even get me started with the confusion these birds make you feel I have some serious mind boggling stuff having in a few my boxes at the moment, I am not even going to speak about it until it sorts itself out! Because if am sat here confused can you imagine everyone else so sitting tight and watching at the moment!

All 3 of my side view boxes aswell Sammi In all different places all different colours so isn't even fact she is getting mixed up. I just think she's got a thing for the side boxes so she is picking between them! Loopy part 2! I can laugh at it because I already have blue tit nesting, If this was my only nest I wouldn't find it funny!

Do you think your males got a second female Sammi? Didn't you say the fence box is pretty close to the box currently being used to nest?

Hopefully not too late Sue. May give hope to some folk. Yes Paul I am pretty sure it would have to be the same male but no certain proof. I need eyes in the back of m head to keep up with these little beauties. This is the female during a tapping minute or two.

Thanks for all comments. You know I have been so tired of waiting (reminds me of an old song that) that I have started to turn off the monitoring until I see outside activity picking up. We walked to the old oak tree again today and it is slow progress with it getting into leaf. Even trees it seems stall in the cold weather. Anyway I did put the camera on this morning and May was paying particular attention to the nest cup so I believe that she is thinking of laying soon. There are even a couple of bits of wool in the corner. If she goes for a longer extension of time I may just need more blood pressure medication. I hope all your nests are going well. Will try to catch up with all the laying and hatching soon.
