Well I thought I'd better start a thread ready for when all the action starts . I've got three potential nest boxes with cameras fitted. Two new Garden nature apex boxes and one old Box Watch box with an Aldi camera installed. One box has had a rooster for a while and I think it's now a male who has taken on the roost as it's become a bit messy. Another has two hibernating queen wasps and has had occasional interest recently. The old box in a new position has had at least one viewing from outside but nothing recently.

Still early days yet Sammi, I am sure as the weeks go on you'll get more interest

Oh yes Paul I'm not worried at all. I don't normally have my cameras up and running so early so it's interesting seeing these early visits. I'm not sure that I will leave the cameras out if the weather freezes for long periods though.

Yes hoping that one of them doesn't decide to build her nest there...not really why I bought the box. They say some of them get eaten by spiders over winter or come out too early during a mild spell and die of cold. I don't want to wish them any harm but hopefully they are not putting the feathered nesters off.

Sammi, I think if you get a blue tit interested in the box they will just remove them. So nothing to worry about.

Hi Kathy .....yes I've found them sometimes in the corner of our shed but not seen them in my boxes before.but then I don't normally have the cameras on this time of year and they will be gone by spring time. I was very surprised to get two though. The second one came a few days after the first and started off cuddled up to the first one but the next time I looked they had spread out.

I i thought I'd better keep my hand in uploading pics before I forget how Had a visit to two boxes today and trying to see if it's the same bird. Top three from one box and bottom two from the other. It was about the same time so I think it's probably the same one house hunting. Not sure if it's my rooster or not.

Please your visits are picking up Sammi I think its pretty normal for same bird to check out each box. It happens to me every year so am guessing it will be the same bird having a look around.

Thanks Springtime and Paul Yes my thoughts too. I'll have to see if I can compare them to my rooster. Good practice for the Spring though ...transferring my pics from device to device. ...just had to use that one. Reminds me of me in a spin with my old PC.

Things look very hopeful for you too Sammi - I love your avatar by the way heart Great photo & you're like me, use it or lose it, as I've found out to my cost when I haven't done something for 6 months or so. Glad you managed to use the spinning chair but I don't need to, as the world spins for me if I stand on a step ladder!

Hi Yorkshirelass .....we sound very much alike.....I'm probably not too safe up a ladder Had a viewing in each of my boxes today...so I am very happy. No guarantees I'll get a nester though but I'm cautiously optimistic icon_biggrin

Just trying this out....the little blue icon (disappeared when post created) to the right of the pic is what I get if I don't delete the bit that's already in the box. You only need one https or whatever it is Suep.

Thanks Paul...yes it looks like she's been caught in the spotlight I just uploaded it again to see if I could help Sue out. If you have too many https I found it didn't work. You just get a mini blue icon instead. It's been quiet today in the boxes here and it's been very windy.

This is could be a good sign. A pair taking enough interest in the box to go to the trouble of waking up the sleeping queen wasps. They poked and prodded at them until they awoke from their slumbers. They are either now up in the top of the box or out in the cold.

Whilst in in the other box a very half hearted attempt at cleaning. I may just give them a hand tomorrow

Oh, Look at that! Things really have picked up! Glad your getting visits by a pair now Sammi. Yes you could help out by removing the poo, I always do this planning on doing it again at the end of the month. Probably be the last time I do it then.
