So frustrating isn’t it Karen. Hopefully this weekend should give them all a chance to decide and get a move on. Sue

Quick update, although not the one I wanted to share, despite building starting on the 2nd, there has been very little action since, odd visit through the day, messing with the moss taking it out etc but no more building as such since, so not sure if they have chosen a different site this year or if they are just biding their time, I have had nests in previous years not start till end of April so I haven't totally lost hope, the weather is picking up so will soon find out if they come back and carry on

I truly hope this week of more settled weather will get them back and building quickly for you Karen. Such a strange and frustrating year. Can’t remember one quite like this before. I will keep everything crossed for you. Sue

Hi Karen It sounds like it's a strange one indeed. I hope the weather brings them back into nesting mode. Mine have built a bit of a nest and then nothing

Thanks everyone, I think its a no go this year, I have seen her taking material somewhere, they still come and feed so will make sure they have waxworms etc when chicks come.

Karen it’s not a good feeling seeing them going off in another direction with nesting material Seems like a few of us are in same situation the biggest shock is Malcom’s empty nest boxes We will have to enjoy Sue’s Paul Pete’s Benn Johns and any others this year. 🤔😊

Yes it is very disappointing, really love watching the process, this year it would have been 4th year in a row so cant really complain I have been very fortunate in having them chose my box so often. Will get my fix from the others on the forum.

Oh Karen how frustrating! I guess it's just a reminder we have no control over these little birds and their choices. Some comfort that at least they are nesting somewhere near so hope for next year maybe?

Sorry to hear Karen, but fingers crossed - it really is a strange year as others have mentioned. Still a chance I reckon.

I never say never and am an eternal optimist, but I am so lucky to have them nest for the pat 3 years, they come to the garden and feed so I know they will be back with their babies and there will be live food for them! In the meantime I can watch the nests on the forum!

Don’t give up hope yet. I had too and then last Sunday evening out of the blue as had no interest in the box bar one quick visit a blue tit has begun nest building! I am in the south west and this is much later than usual. I had put a new camera in so was really disappointed when I thought I wasn’t going to have a nest. Fingers crossed for you

Thanks Linda, great to hear you have a nest, hope it goes well. I had a nest start as late as the 29th April so yeah, will see what happens but looking unlikely.

Surprise double visit this morning, where they both had a play around with the moss the other female brought in, will keep you all informed if anything happens.

Came home from work last night and checked the cameras, nothing more in the tree box but surprisingly there was some material in the box Paul kindly gave me which I put under the pergola which has a clematis growing over it, wasnt there before I went to work so will see what happens, still clutching at straws lol
