Pete - absolutely wonderful video clip of your robin (I am so envious!) & can't wait for further news that he hopefully decides to raise his family in your box.

Pete, such a beautiful video of your robin. It reminds me to try to set up a camera on mine before too long. I saw a pair of robins together in the garden a few days ago and noticed there was a difference in size but not sure if that helps or not I'm assuming they were a pair as they didn't fight. We've also seen one robin doing some lovely head dancing/swaying that must be some sort of courtship. I'd intended putting more robin boxes up but I still only have the one.

Hi Pete Brilliant footage, look forward to following your post. i have had a regular pr of robins in my garden for a number of years i agree with sammi on size difference, that's how i know one from the other they always nest in the bush of ivy on the boundary fence of next door garden

Hi 66, i shall keep my eyes peeled, come to think of it the last time i saw more than one robin in the garden was about last autumn when i saw three having turf wars.

Great vid of the robin Pete! I'm also a little jealous I must admit! I've had a few visits to my robin box, but only from great tits and blue tits (strangely?), but they probably weren't nest site hunting I guess. We have one, quite territorial, robin in the garden, but no idea where it nests and no sign of it inspecting the robin box yet.

Cheers Matt, is your robin box exposed like on a bear wall cos i think robins like a bit of cover like in a bush or a wall climber, mine is just wedged in a climber.

Cheers Matt, is your robin box exposed like on a bear wall cos i think robins like a bit of cover like in a bush or a wall climber, mine is just wedged in a climber. It's quite well hidden in some jasmine on a fence, but I do wonder if I should have arranged it with the entrance pointing along the fence instread of straight out? It is a south facing fence, too, so sometimes the sun shines right in (through the leaves, but you still some strong rays). I wonder if it is too late to change it? I understand that robins are one of the earliest nesters.

Yes they are early nesters Matt, what i would do is if you can see the nest from inside your house keep an eye on it for awhile to see if its getting any visits if not try changing the position.

I think it looks good for you getting a robin nest Pete with all the activity! I know they start building as early as February so really not long for you to wait now
