While sat this morning watching the morning activity, this gorgeous Sparrowhawk landed inches away from the tree box, you can see the cables in view. Thank goodness BTs were not around.

It is, I reckon he or she will have been the one that made a kill in my garden a couple of weeks ago. A few minutes after he moved on the BTs came to look in the box too

Lovely picture Karen, We have a male and female in our garden daily Been around for many years now, I noticed since putting cages around my feeders its stopped the killings though. They hit the cage when hunting and the birds manage to slip out the holes in the cages without being harmed or killed. Before I had cages around my feeders they was killing atleast 2 birds a day mainly sparrows but still.

A beautiful photo Karen, but I'm not surprised you were worried when you saw it - I bet your heart was in your mouth!Thank goodness your birds weren't around at the time.

Nice photo Karen. Our Sparrowhawk is attracted by the colony of Sparrows that have grown over the year. Two days ago I witnessed it take the third bird that I have seen it grab this year. Each time a pursuit ensues as it never gets the victim first time. It takes about 10 - 15 seconds but ultimately it gets its prey. I never seem to have enough time to get out the back door to disturb it. I don't believe Pauls method would work with this persistent bugger, it does not give up!
