Hi Everyone - trying to remember how to get started took me a while, but hopefully this will go alright! Have had a male GT roosting in the wall box since the beginning of December. Haven't checked my other two boxes - I'll have to watch around dusk to see if there is anything happening in them.

Thanks for the welcome - still having a bit of a problem finding my way around - managed to get an avatar, although not the one from previous years and I see I am deemed a junior member đ¤ - don't know whether I've got enough years left to make the senior category. đ

Yayyy, welcome Beechnut Glad to have you back, look forward to your Gt posts. as for finding your way round the forum Believe me, itâs taken me a while, but youâll soon get used to it. I think itâs cos we knew our way around the BBF with our eyes shut, but I must say Matt & Paul have done a fantastic job in making this forum, and we all get used to the changes sooner rather than later (mine is the latter!) fingers crossed for the upcoming season Beechnut Elle xx

Hello Elle and SueP and WLP - good to see lots of birdboxers from the Bigg forum getting on here really early. I had a look in the cherry tree box after the rooster had retired to the Wallbox and there was no evidence of an occupant, so I may get the box down and fit a new camera before anything gets interested.

Hi Sammi and Pete - good see you are here too, several of the 'old guard' beginning to stir now the sun's coming out and Mother Nature's making an effort, I shaved the grass yesterday which was 4 or 5 inches high in places!
I gave my cherry tree box a bit of a cleanup, moved the cobwebs that had collected around the camera and the top of the inside of the box. Waterproofed the roof etc. and gave the outside a lick of woodstain where necessary.
Ready for an occupant if I'm lucky, although I must admit I would prefer the Wallbox being used - much less hassle!

Oh Beechnut, this is my dilemma, I somehow get the pics up but I havenât got a clue how I do it Seems you might join Sue and I in the âuntechnical familyâ! But then you might be able to get yourself in the âsmartypantsâ family , which will it be? Time will tell Best of luck for the season ahead anyway Beechnut, look forward to any âpotentialâ photos Elle xx

Looking forward to more photos Beechnut. At my age I have to do things many times before I remember how and then there are no guarantees ....still keeps the grey matter exercised

Well done with the photo Beechnut, took me so many attempts before I managed and now iâm sure I wonât be able to do it again. Donât think iâll ever make that âsmartypantsâ grade Elle . At least we are still trying - VERY trying for poor Paul and Matt Sue

I managed to get the LED lighting into the Wallbox yesterday - it took a couple or three hours all told, as the Wallbox is home built and certainly not conventional. Making the holes and screwing in the light was the worst as there wasn't much room inside the box to get an awl or screwdriver, and the wood was solid hardwood, not ply. I then had to replace the box with the electric sockets in, because there wasn't enough room to put in an adapter to take the separate plug for the light and the power plug for the wireless camera, in the old box.
So all done yesterday pm and the male GT rooster was safely tucked up and asleep when I checked at 1830 last night. He obviously wasn't phased by the additional light and wiring inside the box. I also put a clearer window in the one side that faced daylight (rather than a brick wall).
I haven't checked during the day with the light on as I have as yet to see any day time activity.
