Wakefield Peregrine Falcon Project - Live Nest Cam Like others here, our garden has had visits from sparrow hawks, resulting in a few deaths of blackbirds (but not the tit families.) However, as we all say, it's Nature's way - so perhaps you may want to see "the other side of the coin?" This is Wakefield Cathedral & live streaming started on the 31 January, nothing happening yet of course, but I thought I'd post this message early, while I have time to do it. wakefieldnaturalists.org/?page_id=2415

Oh Diane I could watch these beautiful birds all day long, I must say, the peregrine is way up on my list of favourite birds. Thank you for letting us know about this live feed, already I’m not getting much done and spring hasn’t started yet!!! Elle xx

It's nice to know that you like the Peregrine falcons too Elle. icon_biggrin I watch them every year & unlike puppies & kittens, the chicks are quite ugly in comparison aren't they - the ugly duckling & all that? Anyway, I've decided that in my next life I'm definitely coming back as a Golden Eagle, so that I can fly anywhere I want to go, made my mind up after listening to Abba's "The Eagle"!

Thanks for sharing the link Diane...I love the majesty of these birds. Can't wait to watch the comical chicks. We have Sparrowhawks visiting the garden on a regular basis but it does show that the bird population is healthy I suppose although I always breathe a sigh of relief when they miss the target

I'm luckier than you then Sammi as we haven't had any visits from sparrow hawks for a few years now, thank goodness! I'm pleased you like the peregrine falcons too & I've just realised that I forgot to use that lovely little smiley for their in my last message, so better late than never!

It's not just you two who can't see anything at the moment, I can't either! However, it is too early yet - I'll have to check & see when activity started last year. I put the link on now, because last year I missed the parents when they first arrived - the eggs had hatched when I first got there.

Just spotted this thread Diane what am I like? Lovely majestic birds so persecuted by man once again! Been researching in Wakefield for my genealogy. Do you know Chevet Hall my ancestor was housekeeper there between 1855-1861 believe it has been demolished?

Crumbs Kathy, I used to go to the Wakefield Archives too, if you went at the same times what a coincedence that would be! I went from 1994-1999 for Yorkshire roots, now use A******y for husband's & son-in-law's lot down south. I don't know about Chevet Hall being demolished so I'll have to google it.
