Both still waiting then Ann. So hard to tell when incubation actually started . Elle, I was going by the overview on the Bigg site and most are 12 or 13 days incubation so I was guessing 10th or 11th BUT that’s if the signals are right re start of incubation. Could be a week away for all I know . Oh well, Sue

Well, i’m Not sure hatching is underway but something is in the wind because although she’s is not in and out in quick succession, she has left the box about 5 times in the last hour!! Maybe, just maybe something is stirring??? Ooh if only I knew . So easy to miss read signs when you want something so bad. Perhaps just wishful thinking on my part. Time will tell Sue

sue, that sounds promising, it was sort a of start i noticed now martha is busier since then, still on her own i fear for them all to get enough food to survive

Well, I know it’s a guessing game and I haven’t been here to watch all day but I think one or two must have hatched as although it’s not frequent, when she leaves the box she does two or three successive trips before she settles down again, and I can only think that means she is feeding chicks. However, have only seen dad a couple of times today - think it’s time for him to man up and do his duty - ( I hope) Sue

Great news Sue. Ours didn’t eat much the first day . I suppose at the size they are at first ,doesn’t take much to fill a tiny tummy. Hopefully they will be speeding up tomorrow then you will be sure you have chicks.

Do the parents always eat the shells? Asking because just seen female come out with what looked like a shell in her mouth (too big for a faecal sac). Is this possible? Thanks. Sue

Thanks Ann and Beechnut, so happy. Ann that is such a worry that Martin hasn’t shown his face, so hope he just hasn’t realised they’ve hatched yet and will show up soon. Huge task for a lone parent. Beechnut, wonderful that Tuppence is now incubating, brilliant news. Sue
