Hi Ann, very little activity if i’m honest BUT after saying I hadn’t seen the female going in to roost , lo and behold I saw her go in to roost at 7.45 last night and 7.35 tonight. Hoping that means she is now laying . I will be a nervous wreck by the end of this season . Have you spotted Martha going in to roost yet? The fact that you’ve seen her today is good. So so difficult without a cameras help isn’t it. Sue

Thanks Paul and Taz, so hope it means she’s laying. . Actually Paul, she may have been roosting longer because although I was watching for her, I guess I was unsure of times and my eyes got tired just staring at the box and maybe I blinked a bit too often. Then I saw a comment you made to Ann where you said 7.30 to 7.45 and I made a point of not taking my eyes off the box for that time asking my husband to watch too in case I missed it. In fact it was so fast when she went in the box that I now wonder if I had actually missed the moment before cause it really is just the blink of an eye without a camera to help. So thank you Paul once again. They certainly are fast little birds. Sue

i have watched several times in the evenings to see if martha goes into the box to roost not timed it to see, but i do know she has flown out around 7ish, so i think she does roost now.
i was over the moon this morning when i saw both martha and martin together, she flew out the box and flew off together. i hadn't seen martin for at least 4 days.its hard to know what's happening as I've not been in all day
Sue
its very tiring trying to focus on the same thing for over an hour,

Ann, that does sound very positive. . I agree watching and studying one spot is VERY tiring - eyes just go square or blank especially when trying not to blink and miss anything. What do we put ourselves through?! Even more difficult to tell if eggs are definitely laid or if incubation has started . Only sign now I guess will come if and when any chicks hatch - then it will be all systems go. We can only hope Ann. Glad I’m not alone in my quest. , or is it more , or probably . Sue

Sue, we are sharing the same frustrations its seems, if there are eggs in there i don't think she is incubating yet, but it must be close now, i shall try to watch for any change in activities. yes if we are lucky enough to have chicks it will be all systems go, keeping hoping Sue

Saw mine couple of times this morning Ann, but nothing since. Feel like putting a tv or something exciting on top of the box cause i’m looking that way more often than anything else at the moment. Got a crick in my neck Sue

Sue, would you not just get a camera looking out from inside your house towards nestbox and set it to record. You could then have a much better idea of what stage they’re at and you could get on with ‘less important’ things in your life

yes very true, last year i used a wildlife outdoor camera mounted over my box so i could view the recording when i got home, they are really good Sue. i haven't troubled about getting it set up this year, shame i don't live near enough i would let you use it

Hi Helen, Been filming on my camera sometimes but it will only do 30 minute stints and the you have to start again. I had 2 and half hours to watch the other evening cause if you fast forward you miss them, they’re so quick. Don't know much about wildlife cameras. How long do they record for? And how do you view the footage. Is it on an sd card or similar? Will have to investigate. More money , don’t think that will go down well. Ann, so pleased you are seeing going in to roost. Sue

Ann, sounds like something I should invest in. Wonder if it will work through my window As not allowed wires hanging about outside. Worth a try maybe. Sue
