Thanks for the news update Sue, you're obviously very upset & as you & Paul have said, you're still having to wait to see if the male stops visiting before you can investigate. I see a few of us were here early this morning more or less at the same time, so we're all thinking about you.

Hi Sammi, Paul, Beechnut, Ann,Matt,Karen, Elle, Amanda, Diane and anyone else that’s sent good wishes that i’ve missed (sorry if I have). Well, I am now completely confused.......... Male continued to visit this morning - then suddenly I saw two blue tits!!!, then three. The two males (I assume ) flew off after one another and what I assume to be a female sat looking in the box. What I am assuming my original male is back ( saying original as he is confident about going in the box) but other bird (female?) is hesitant. ‘She’ flies off in a different direction to my ‘original’ female. Also a mark by eye that I don’t recall on my female. Could this be my female after a fight? Or could this be a new female he’s trying to coax? Or is it a new ‘pair’? Confused? I am. Just hoping the nest may now get used, but not building up any hopes as can see how quickly and easily things can go wrong. Would like to think it’s my female back, (as hate the thought of her being hurt and worse) but acting very differently and very ‘edgy’. Will have to wait and see what becomes of this. Sorry about all messages and confusion. Sue

Sue, its good that you have more blue tits around, to hopefully help the dilemma, hope things improve there for you i only have one pr here, what' happens to all the fledging i see right up through the autumn, ( i can probably answer that myself) well first thing i didn't see my pr which is unusual first thing, i had to go out for a few hours, have not seen a movement since back, maybe that means an egg has been laid, or hopefully they haven't abandon the nest i shall keep looking and hoping just looked up and martha and martin flew out the box not sure why but martha is in and out the box like crazy

Oh Ann, these birds will drive us crazy - if we’re not already so . Maybe you are right Ann and an egg has been laid hence the excited in and out - who knows Without a camera to understand what’s happening it’s all a mystery to us I truly hope so for you Ann. I am feeling a lot more positive at this moment. Am now sure it is my male and beginning to think it is my female. Haven’t seen her since Saturday morning when I look back, and male has definitely been panicking along with me. The female that arrived followed by another male this morning ???? seemed very nervous and kept looking about But after second male (I think) was sent packing, she seems to have calmed and the male is following her everywhere. She has even started raiding my flower baskets and gone into the box with whatever she took. There is a mark by one of her eyes that wasn’t there before so I wonder if she was in a fight or trapped somewhere. Whatever, I now think she is back and looks like nesting will resume. Can’t tell you how happy that makes me feel. Sue

Great news Sue....who knows what is going on but at least there are bluetits still around My theory is that they are all in the woods checking out the oaks. We went for a walk today around the headland where the oaks are and the buds are only just opening. There were several bluetits around hanging on the branches as if testing the buds. Maybe the edginess you see in the female is an increased urgency to get mating. Best of luck, and I hope they settle down soon.

Thank you all so much. Yesterday I was devastated, today i’m on cloud nine (though trying not to be too optimistic). Still unsure about the female - checked my photos and videos and mark below her eye definitely not there before. However she seems to be settling. Still a nervous edge to her that wasn’t there before, but she is collecting for the nest, so in spite of soft bedding going in the other day we are still not at egg laying stage. So sorry to have worried you all, I will keep quiet and bide my time in future . Just so relieved of a good outcome. Sue

Thanks Karen, such a worry. Think I must stop watching as not good for my health . This morning a sparrow tried to get in the box (which he can’t do - hole too small) but there was quite a tussle between him and one of the blue tits (couldn’t make out which one), so maybe this is what happened to the female the other day cause deffo something happened to make her nervous and give her an injury/mark below her eye. Trouble is I can’t help watching . Any good news at yours? Sue

for the update Sue & what wonderful news it is! Shame that a sparrow tried to get into the box, never had that problem with my box but my sparrows nest elsewhere - hopefully your little bird will be left in peace now so that your viewing isn't so stressful for you.

Things gone quite quiet at mine. Pair are visiting only about three or four times a day. He hangs around outside whilst she goes and and does whatever for couple of minutes and then they fly off. Maybe turning eggs??? In other news news for those yet without a nest - my son has this morning had a fight between a pair of blue tits and a pair of great tits over his nest box! No-one has started building in his yet but both pairs seem to want the box, so still time, I say!.. Also anyone interested I have posted a couple of videos under garden visitors re a robin in my sons garden.. so chuffed it fed off my hand. Sue
