Sue ive seen Martha a couple of times this morning on the trellis near the box wing fluttering, do you thing the young are now learning to strengthen their wings inside the box, strange that she was busy doing outside the box they are not ready to leave probably just stretching her wings maybe

Hi Ann, hoping everything inside the box going ok. Probably getting a bit crowded in there, plus been quite warm. So hoping she will get some to fledging as she has tried so hard. If only we knew what their behaviour meant Ann. Keeping everything crossed for you Sue

Hi Ann Like the others hope all going well we need some good news on here after Diane's issues. If there was a bird gong going I would give it to all bird mothers they try so hard to rear their young and the Dads mustn't be forgotten, especially my Andi, who has striven to find Caterpillars where there wasn't any. Sue I have loved your Box Title this year really apt I applaud you!

Title was apt at the beginning Kathy - just a shame the way things went. Nature can be wonderful but also difficult to witness sometimes, but have start out with optimism. Sue

Hi Sue I was just wondering what your plans were for next season. Will you make any changes or keep things as they are? I'm already missing the nesters🙄

Hi Sammi, have a few thoughts for next year - one is to give up altogether !!! Only don’t think I can do this. I am getting a new camera for one of my boxes and I am going to see if I can get my stone bird box to get drilled for a camera. If I can mount a camera inside it will be good but the wires will have to sit outside as no way of fixing them inside and not enough height anyway - just got to think of a way of keeping connectors dry!? Having said this I have yet to persuade my hubby to have another box on wall of bungalow with wires drilled through - my son and I have sussed out a suitable hidden spot for the outside wires . Seem to have missed all sorts while away but slowly catching up. Sue

Hi Sue, as you say the first option isn't going to happen is it🤣 I'm sure someone on the forum managed a camera in a box like yours. Maybe the answer is to put an extra storey on top to house the camera and wires. But then like you say you still have to get the wires to the house?? Fingers crossed for successful nesters for you next season no matter what. 🤞🙂

Ann, nothing that I know of. Only put cameras on once in a while but not an inkling of anyone having even ventured in. Not unusual for me - see no sign of any of the tit family until spring is around the corner. Glad you are enjoying your semi retirement and hope birds flock to you in the coming season. Sue x

So excited, turned on my bird box this morning and thought I saw some poo - I know what a thing to get excited about . So turned on camera late afternoon and at about 4.15, in popped a blue tit. Looked a bit nervous at first but finally tucked his head under his wing and decided to call it a night. Really chuffed, just hope he likes his new home - saying ‘he’ as poo probably means it’s a messy male. A very delighted Sue
