Interesting to see if the tapping is as ferocious as our Flo's was! Good news for you, hope it is something serious Sammi

I must say Sammi it is encouraging to see that some late nest building is going on around the forum. Fingers crossed for you - looks promising!

Yes Kathy although the sound isn't recorded on my software you can tell from the body movements she was drumming out some message to someone. Who knows what the message was though. 😁 Matt, I always think anything is possible. I once had a nest started on a Friday and first egg laid on the Monday😃 I do hope you are pleasantly surprised one day soon.

I do hope it’s 2 females for you Sammi, however, it could be the same female who maybe has abandoned the first attempt!! Have you had 2 nests at the same time in the past Sammi?

I've never had two nests before Elle. Nearest was last year with a started but abandoned great tit nest in the patio box and a bluetit nest in the fence box position. The one nesting in the Box Watch box is still building so maybe another female or it may be the building female just putting her stamp on the other box. I need at least three birds on the monitor at the same time to be sure but they are playing 'now you see me now you don't' at the moment I'm going to have to call the female May I think...short for maybe. I've had another visit from a female in the fence box this morning ...wriggles and tapping....then she flew out into the variegated holly next to the box and disappeared. This is the opposite direction to May's nest. Time will tell...back to the washing up

I hope so too Sue I've decided her male can be Boris. I'll call the female visiting the fence box Maybe for now until the final deal is reached...whatever it is

Ha ha ha ha...just to add another dimension to the mix. Today I had a cleaning visit to the rooster patio box (there have been no visits for ages apart from the rooster going to bed) and on synchronised play back at the same time there was May busy with her nest in Boxwatch so now what is going on? Will post identikit pics later

Oh that flipping word B****t! It's driving me daft, enough to make me want to jump off a cliff (nearly). I watch the News once a day and that's it.

Nice piccies Sammi & Paul has answered your question, so may I ask you to answer one of mine please? I've racked what few brains I have left trying to remember if it's you who lives in Cornwall?

Well after the excitement of yesterday things have gone quiet again. There has been a cold breeze blowing today though. Nest building seems still to be just a morning occupation and there isn't any urgency. There will certainly be plenty of moss in this nest. I've had a great tit taking wool for her nest..(wherever that is ) but May hasn't really started on the softer stuff yet.

If she is anything like theresa you could get soft material in 2020 Jokes aside, This was pretty normal for Tatty she would stop building around 11am. Now here nest is complete I only see her handful of times a day then roost. All my birds have been morning builders over the years, I have never had a bird that nest built late in the day or even afternoon!

You can stop wracking your brain now. Yes I live down in beautiful Cornwall. Yes, a beautiful County - my paternal Ancestors were born in Constantine & that's also the place we bought our black labrador in 1978. Hopefully you'll see more activity today with your birds as it's warmer up here, so hope it's the same down there.

Another quick clean in patio box. I am sure this is the male doing a bit of housework.

I think the bluetits are just checking everything out at the moment. This is one looking at our new robin box. Sorry I should have edited the photo...you can just about spot the bird.

Is that a caterpillar Sammi? If so maybe not long for eggs down there now if they are emerging from their slumbers?
