You are safe to look Sammi, Still a few without nests / not getting any visits. I wouldn't give up hope until Mid April if i was you, Still a few weeks before we get to that stage.

In the same boat Sammi. To me, it feels as if there are quite a few of us without firm nesting activity so far this year, at least compared to last year. I can think of perhaps 5 people on here that are still waiting? Does that seem high? Perhaps the birds aren't going as early as we thought they would, and it is all yet to happen, or perhaps it is just an unusually unlucky season for us all? Or perhaps this is just normal. Time will tell.

Sammi and Matt I’m also in the same boat, nothing to get too excited about, also I don’t want to look too often in case I’m the only one without a nest!! Elle xx

I think it’s still quite early. I have never had Building this early - again not in camera box - but I truly wouldn’t panic yet. Hoping everyone gets something to watch. Sue

Thanks all...well honestly these birds! Just had a look at the recordings for this afternoon and low and behold there seems to be a change in behaviour. Hopefully this means things are about to start in earnest. I agree it's still early days and I don't usually start serious monitoring until later. I'm just so impatient this year ive had one BT in the box for ages this afternoon with his/her head out of the hole and I assume if the software recorded sound I would have heard the tapping of the SOLD notice going up. But I mustn't get too excited. Docs on Monday re. blood pressure

Up early this morning. I always find I can't sleep in at this time of the year. It it was worth losing a bit of sleep as there was great excitement in the garden and activity around all of the boxes. Couple in the fence box ...wriggles and all ....... And breathe ....... i also have a blackbird building her nest right opposite our back door. She couldn't have picked a busier spot.....right over the dustbins and 'recycling store'

Lovely morning, and even better news, hope all this activity leads to something positive Sammi. Think mine have gone off for a break in the sunshine as not seen them this morning. Do you think they do this on purpose to keep us all on our toes? We should all be completely mad on here - hang on - we are

Hopefully they surprise you one morning when you turn the camera on with some nest material Sammi! Getting regular visits still can only be a good thing, Weather looks lovely and sunny for most of the UK next week aswell. If that doesn't kick start them i'll be having words for you

Looks positive for you Sammi. To make you feel better I have had zero interest so far other than a regular rooster. It was minus 2.5C up here in the hills last night though and there is a soul biting cold wind so we might be 3-4 weeks behind everyone else.
A couple of years ago I had 4 nests on camera. It is the way it goes. Unfortunately the small garden birds usually only survive for a couple of breeding seasons and the birds who replace them in the locality often look to different sites.

Well, well well.....would you believe it This is is what greeted me when I finally got the revamped Boxwatch camera up and running. Bless the Boxwatch folk....I asked if Denise had any idea where I could get the little bulbs for the light plate in the boxes and the lovely lady sent me a few that she still had around. So now my box from last year is up and running and it seems to be the preferred one...so this morning it all started with visits and wing flapping all over the place. By then end of the afternoon there is actual moss laid down. Amazing what a little sunshine will do. I will try to catch up with all your posts today and hopefully there have been more nests started today.

Thanks folks.....but you really have to laugh. After all the trouble we went to to get the leads neatly coming into the house without having the window constantly open...we now have two windows open to get power to the camera and to get the feed into the computer and it's going to be a cold, cold night

We tried to make a hole right through the wall but no drill long enough.

Paul...you are right we are all crazy about our birds. I find myself wandering around the garden looking for new sites for boxes all the time. Twinkle...yes the lengths we go to for a few months of anticipation, frustration and worry We now have very big pieces of bubble wrap closing off the draughty windows......I hope it gets warmer soon. Meanwhile nesting continues in my Boxwatch box but have also had nest wriggles in the new Garden Nature one further down the fence. Fortunately I can watch both boxes from the kitchen so I can see if the same male is involved in the two nests. It must be time for a spring clean in my kitchen Hope there are more new nesters when I catch up with other posts later.

Thanks Sue. It's funny how they choose familiar boxes isn't it ? Maybe tried and tested nest boxes have something over new ones
