Lovely pictures and video Sammi, Don't need to thank me silly haha I am glad you managed to get it all set up, Great for £9.99 isn't it? You can really see the different between boxes with the pictures from this morning and these ones. Told you that you'd be ordering more when you seen the results!

Oh superb Sammi, you clever thing. What a difference. Wish my hubby was more obliging or capable when it comes to setting up these things. Or wish I were clever enough. Does it need another set of wires to an electric point? So chuffed for you. Sue

No sue, The led light runs off your cameras power, You simply plug it into camera. No more wires no extra leads the power that is currently powering your camera will power the led light plus the camera. Have a look in the thread I made for it gives more details and pictures. It really is must simple thing to install. birdboxdiaries.boards.net/thread/49/led-lighting-bird-boxesP.s just make sure your camera is a 12V camera, Most on the market these days are. Some of the older ones are only 8V which won't be enough to power both camera / led. You can find this out by looking at the plug you plug in for the camera underneath it should say 8V or 12V.

As Paul says Sue.....no extra outside wiring if your camera is the same as mine so hubby cannot complain. I was amazed at the difference and if you can wield a screwdriver then you can do this. I had no idea that such a simple thing could make such a difference to the colour. and we switched our electricity supplier today so I think our savings will more than pay for another light set .....maybe another nest box too

Well Sammi, Since the led light runs off the camera power no more power is being used anyway tell that to the hubby after you've already ordered another one! Your little blue tit didn't look at all bothered by it aswell which is good, Because its used to the box without lighting so fact it didn't look bothered with the light is great. Oh another box?! What box you planning on getting now Sammi?

Hahaha.....have I given the impression that my hubby is overly careful with money The next lighting set is ordered and if this season goes well I may just get that side view box I promised myself....and --- the expense. The swift box is probably out of the question as it would take scaffolding to get it on the chimney. Yes the rooster didn't bat an eyelid either even though the place had another spring clean as well as the new lighting Better go and batten down the hatches.Freda is on her way ...

Great pics Sammi, I also purchased the led lighting on Paul’s recommendations, and yes it certainly does make a difference. I bought 2 led lights, got 1 in my side view box, but my dilemma now is, which of my other 2 boxes do I put the other 1 in . Not that in recent years had 2 nests, but yer know... Sod’s law Elle xx

Hi Elle Decisions ....decisions.....my third box has the wrong connections for one so unless I change the camera I've No decision to make. My problem is that now the lead from all cameras are squeezed through a hole in the window frame changing one would probably result in a new window unless I just change the camera anyway and feed it through the window if we have any takers for the box........I can see I'm talking myself into this Good luck with your decision making

Oh Sammi, Do it you only live once Then if you want side box for next season you only have to buy the camera ready box for £40 and put the camera in you've bought. That way your hubby can be fooled into two smaller payments instead of one large one I am a bad influence to people on here I think everyones hubby secretly hates me

Now that sounds like a plan....but to put the record straight if I decided to buy anther box hubby would be fine..he just worries too much about how long our savings will last I mean he drilled a hole into one of our window frames !! I worry about anything but money so we make a good team. I'm with you though .....live life for now so watch this space

Well there was a bit if a spring clean going on in the roosting box today. Must try to see if the same bird was involved in cleaning and roosting. I'll have to get some mug shots for ID purposes. Earlier in the day there was a visit and a half wriggle, then a look of disgust as if to say well I can't wriggle over all that lot She (I imagine) then picked up a bit of poo and took it out. Then just before roosting time another visit and this time a feather was removed. Then the rooster came to bed. So who was doing the cleaning up I wonder? sorry the pics aren't in the right order......haven't sorted that out yet .

Looking very good for the patio box Sammi! Looks like she doesn't mind the led light either

Both th boxes fitted with little led lighting strips now. to ladder climbing hubby. The fence one though doesn't seem as clear as the patio one. The fence one does have more shrubbery etc either side though so maybe doesn't get all the light that the patio one does. Not sure if I'll try to get both cameras positions like the fence one as I do miss a bit of the base on the patio one. Really windy here today. We've already been out fixing a bit of trellis that decided to fall over in the night Hope it stays where it is now.

Really excellent pictures Sammi....the LED's are great. Last year I invested in some and I'm really looking forward to eventually seeing the activity with them on - they really create a lovely image.... I love seeing the comparison photos. I wonder what the birds think. ha,ha!!!

Thanks GBH ....yes they both have them but the one on the right doesn't seem a lot different. The lights are on ....you can see them through the entrance hole but they don't actually seem as bright as the ones in the other box. I'm not sure if it's my set up or the lights?

Sammi, You know your box that doesn't look as "bright" with the led light? It any sun getting through the entrance hole? I have noticed on sunny days my boxes exposed to good sunlight (all my south ones and my tree box in the back) don't look "bright" I think its the bright sunshine reflecting into the box makes it loose its brightness. Doesn't seem to affect the colour of the box when it enters however. Just something have noticed with mine that are exposed to more light. How you'll be able to tell if its this on duller days / just before dusk your camera will appear more brighter if not I don't know what the issue appears to be. P,s just read your message again and see you are saying the led light isn't as bright rather than your picture so maybe it as nothing to do with what I am saying above. If you believe the light isn't as bright contact greenfeathers and send it back, they will provide you with a free post label to print out so you pay nothing to return it.
