All looking great for you Sammi, I also give them a helping hand with the cleaning, I’m always worried if they can’t cope with the amount of poo, so they clear off Elle xx

Thanks Paul,Sue, Karen and Elle To be honest the poor wasps were poked so hard I thought they were dead but obviously they take a lot of wakening up When they were fully awake there was a moment of panic almost while they decided on the best option....which I think was ...."let's get out of here before they come back!!' I am so looking forward to this season to see all our nests....

Wonderful photos & news Sammi & it's great that the pair got rid of the wasps for you, I'm sure they're not still at the top of the box, surely they're not daft enough to stick around now!

Thanks all....yes I think the wasps have moved out and there has been lots of checking things out type visits today from one of the pair. Lots of judging the height from base to door and the tiniest hint of a half wriggle. Lots of entrance pecking in and out. Meanwhile the day before yesterday I had a female (I think) in my old box with Aldi cam and she stayed for quite a while and did a half wriggle...using only one wing Will try to upload pics when I get the chance. So things are definitely moving in the right direction Hope everyone is having promising activity. The weather has been beautiful today so

Thats great news been such a lovely day here, but I have been too busy to watch sadly. So when they bob up and down and kind of look out of hole from within box are they checking the height? Thats interesting I thought they were worried another bird was coming near.

Thanks Sue,Paul and Karen, can't wait to get up in the morning these days to get the cameras on! Karen I have no idea really what the behaviour is, it's just my interpretation. I am lucky as I can see this box from the kitchen window and the outside activity seems to be a lot of measuring...from the box to the nearest tree on the left...then on the right .....then behind. They really seem to check everything and so I imagine they take all the internal measurements too before they commit

Yes Matt, I think they have decided it was safer to move on unless they have moved above the camera . Where the wiggle was is my old repositioned box...no wasps in that one I agree Paul, dare we be optimistic about the weather this year? Elle .the cleaning went well. I thought I'd do it as I had to clean the window which is very close to it. There was a thick pile carpet of the stuff. I like you thought it didn't look good to any prospective partner.

Sammi it seems like everyone is having intermittent visits to their boxes which is leading us up all up the garden path! They like to keep us guessing I think the naughty little beggars The Clematis camera wriggler I'm sure will be back when the time is right, she definitely liked that box but of course you never know do you anything can happen. icon_biggrin

Just a quick update to say there has been nothing for a few days apart from a probable visit to the rooster box in the daytime but only a quick visit to the outside. Also one quick head in the entrance visit to my fence box. The rooster still uses the patio box and messes the floor with mainly feathers at the moment....so must be getting into tip top courting condition There is lots of singing in the trees around so I'm still hopeful.

Well at least something is happening for you even if it's not more productive. It's just a guess but I think that when we get into March we all should see things moving. It's interesting how some birds know they should wait and others are far to premature like mine! Let's hope we don't get a really cold snap.
