Honestly they are driving me crazy. We are in the process of sorting cameras for the hedgehog boxes and so the dvr was on and captured a pair of bts showing interest in the box where a nest had been started in April. He had a few attempts to get the female in but she just fluttered her feathers at the entrance. At one point he looks like he is saying " look even the foundations are almost finished "

What is going on this year?
It will be interesting to see what Springwatch has to say when it starts around the end of the month.

The female looks like the one with feather mite damage and I'm sure I've seen her taking cat fur from the garden so I thought she must be nesting elsewhere. Maybe this male was just luring her into his love shack?

Thanks Sue and Ann I popped back on today as I had the chance. It's amazing how disheartening a season like this can be. Thankfully I've only had a few empty seasons. Onward and upwards At least I'll see some fledglings in my garden from nearby nests when I get home from my travels. Up north for a family wedding in Preston so my empty boxes are out of my mind for the time To think that the wedding would fall just at fledging time had I had a nest Good luck everyone for next season and of course for the time in between

Commiserations Sammmi from another in the "blank club". I had swifts approach the entrance of one of our boxes under the eaves last Saturday but they have not been seen since! We have two cup finals to look forward to though!

'Come on you Blues' Maybe I will chant that next spring in the garden to get some nesters
