Glad to hear your birds are returning. Ive noticed too, the Robin has began singing in the tree, BTs chattering. I hope to get a little rooster again this year. Hope the new season goes well for you.

I’m ready for the new season I have two log boxes, my camera box and one stone box plus the triangle box for the male blue tit rooster It’s totally up to my bird family if they find one of my boxes.

After the storm and heavy rain earlier there has been a mad panic visiting the boxes as though it was the last chance of claiming one, so glad the birds are keen

Well I have finally managed to experience a Robin feeding out of my hand twice Down at our wetland and meadows the robins are often seen in the hedgerows and get feed I am now going to see if my pair of robins in my garden will be as confident

How lovely Ann, it is a great feeling when they trust you. I am sure with patience you can get your robins to do the same. My son got a robin so tame that every time they opened the kitchen door it flew in. Then they were worried that it would get trapped or trodden on so had to keep door shut. Lol. Sue

Good morning I was lucky to see a bird go into my camera box, to my complete surprise it was a great tit This box over the last 4 years had plenty of visits but never taken up,I’m staying calm so early still. It’s an improvement it’s been worth taking the plate off to see this happen this morning 😊 Having a great tit using a nest box is rare here in my garden anyway

Well there has been visits to all the boxes by single male blue tit, one log box has had a pr visit fairly often. I noticed a pr blue tits go into my camera box this morning which took me by surprise, so happy to see it I went to turn on the camera for the first time not sure if the great tit has still been making visits. This period of waiting and wondering what’s to be is a testing time of patience waiting for the season to start

Just been watching the pr of blue tits in and out of the log box, love is in the air❤️ I’m hoping they have moved over for the great tit having the camera box They were they looking a few weeks ago
Either way would be good to have an active camera box

I don't think I've seen a single Great Tit knocking about yet. Only had a couple of brief Blue heads scan my box. Actually considering removing the 25mm plate as increasingly seeing people questioning the idea. I do wonder if some Blues are too big for it with all the feeders in the vicinity.

I have very few birds around year on year normally a pr of blue tits and great tits with my resident pr of robins and at nesting season you can guarantee a blue tit threesome Log box is the favourite here with the blue tits I’m curious what will happen this year without the plate not long now before I find out not sure where the great tits nest I think up in the trees no others around here have boxes

Hi Ann, lovely to know you are getting some action. Haven’t seen my pair of blue tits for the last couple of days but not had the camera on so may have missed them . I find this waiting for the season to begin quite frustrating with the ‘will they, won’t they’, just trying to remain patient and keeping everything double crossed Sue

Hi Sue Yes we have been here so many times before, it is a testing period. Going by other years,I’m hoping this one holds a few surprises. It’s good that you still have visits, let’s hope you have a nest and you have a camera to watch which is a bonus 😊

Hi Ann Just catching up on posts today. So happy for your robin experience. I still have one cheeky one who is always happy to take a mealworm from my hand. It really does lift my spirits if things are getting me down Good luck with nesters this season. Valentine's day always seems to see increased interest in our boxes too. I've seen much more great tit interest this year but the bluetits were very busy yesterday checking out all my 4 boxes. I'm hoping one season will see great tits taking a box or maybe sparrows who are a bit few on the ground at the moment.

Single visits by male bluetit inside my side view camera box and my new addition stone box Just so interesting to see which box will be used I hope 😊 I’ve always been on the understanding I only have a pr of bluetits, I’m wondering if this could be a different male I have had plenty of visits by or to my log box previously it’s all v exciting to have the activity

Exciting things going on at your Ann. Wonder which box will be chosen?! My concrete one was always a favourite with birds but too heavy to hang on balcony, hence I had a wooden one made that copied the design of my concrete one 🤞. Is your a stone box a one hole or three? Loving the fact that bit more happening for people now, just hope the cold spell they’ve been mentioning for next week doesn’t interfere with visits etc. Looking forward to the next few weeks. Sue

Hi Sue It’s a single hole box I’m going to be happy that they have a nest at all If it was to do with me I’d love the camera box Hoping the cold snap will be just a blink of an eye and pass quickly so the birds can get on with the nest building Are you still getting visits

Yes I am Ann 🤞. Most days there is a brief visit. Sometimes by a pair and other times just a single bird. Trying not to get too hopeful as we know how picky these birds can be, but the regular visits are lovely to see. Sue

Well Ann, I think I have jinxed things. Since my reply to you a few days ago I have had no visits at all ☹️. Told myself not to get too excited this early but they had been so frequent I guess I had begun to ‘hope’. The last few visits the female (I am assuming) had become obsessed with the top of the box. She kept flying up out of sight of the camera and tapping away, drop to the floor then go up and tap again. Maybe something there she just wasn’t happy with . Keeping fingers crossed they will return. Anything new at yours Ann? Don’t think the forecast cold snap will help much with things. Sue

It definitely seems quieter right now compared to this time last year - but it's soooo much colder. If it's any comfort I'm getting a lot of similar flying-up-into-the-roof thing going on at the moment. My BT pair are definitely around, but it feels like they're really biding time! Hopefully just waiting for the right moment to turn up the action.

Roll on warmer temperatures at the weekend so the birds can get on with their plans. We have very light snow furry just now with a cold wind
