Is that a wasp by the hole of the box Ann? Don't give up yet, Very early in season. Most people aren't even getting visits yet let alone nests being started.

Well its Friday ,and I'm home to watch and hope to get a photo near the box today, Martha and Martin are very busy back and forth on this overcast start to the day. I've seen the great tit but no sign of it nesting so that's another year where they have found somewhere else, they only come to be fed in my garden.

Looking forward to seeing your photos of Martha and Martin and the nest building Ann.
My GT nest has definitely got a cup formed now and the lining is going in, although it seems not with the same urgency of the moss over the last 3 days.

I've seen the great tit but no sign of it nesting so that's another year where they have found somewhere else, they only come to be fed in my garden. I haven't named the BTs using my box. Yesterday there were four birds on top of the terrace box. (I say four birds as the video wasn't very clear). I have stopped making the diary for the moment as so much going on. Next entry i hope will be first egg. I have put a fat ball feeder filled with hay on the washing line, where they keep hopping on to. I have just refilled it. I have had sparrows around the area as well but they all seem to be nesting in eaves again. (not ours) Checking with my spy camera in the other boxes, no sign of nesting even though at least one pops into each box. Has your GT nested in the box before?

Love the photo Ann, shame they haven’t chosen your camera box. You and I will be doing guessing and calculating again by the looks of things . Pleased you have something to watch and who knows may still get residents in your camera box Sue

martha and Martin seem to be very devoted to each other, really flying around as lovebirds.they make lots of visits during the day, and he i presume is on the look out for martha, seems to be a favourite post. while i was outside i noticed several goldfinches back so hopefully they will multiply again here.at one time i could of counted up to 16 on the feeders. Sue, i think we will be the same, i can't see me getting any bird near my camera box now.

Good morning springtime60, is it th log box in the pic that the BTs are nesting in? I have been looking at these at my local garden centre and I like the look of them. Might invest in a couple for nexxt year. Good luck to Martin and Martha!

Typical isnt it! Can you get the lid off and install one I wonder, add a small groove for the wire to come out, that is what I hope to do when I get one.? Perhaps a bit late now unless you did it at night.
