Maybe short lived excitement on the robin front After 2 manic days of nest building, Saturday and Sunday, she only popped in once yesterday morning (very early) and hasn't been at all today so far. Bit weird all round! This is where has got the nest to - pretty much completed in 2 days by the looks of it: Fingers crossed she comes back - maybe this is even normal for robins? I have no idea!

AMAZING view Matt, Pretty normal for the robin, Our one had her nest complete with very little visits for over a week before she laid her first egg. She also doesn't roost in the box while laying is happening, She will come to the box early each morning.

Yes, view is way better than I thought it would be in this box which has been up 2 years without much intervention from me - I had totally given up on it tbh so would be great if she uses it. You do have to wonder why the hurry to do it all in 2 days if she is just going to leave it for a week anyway!!

I’m hopeful that she will return, she’s having a good time with Mr before she settles to mothering her forth coming chicks Stay positive Matt

I'd concur with Paul, based on what happened with mine earlier this year...nest was done v quick, then all went quiet for a while including egg laying where as Paul says, she only did fleeting visits. Then she suddenly roosted all night and from then on it all started in earnest.

Can watch it here Pete - one hatches at about 6.03 (you can scroll back) still not quite sure when the other hatched (could have been before light went on). Still 7 to go, I expect most of those to hatch today I guess but then again I wasn't expecting any to hatch until tomorrow anyway!

Excellent video Matt! she was so eager to see her chicks helping that little one out and dad is so good as well feeding her and tidying up, love it! saying that she could have probably done with the egg shell for her calcium uptake!🤦😂

Love seeing the eggs hatching! Special moments! Great video quality too. Looks like there are only two eggs left to hatch now, having looked at your stream.

Brilliant news Matt and lovely videos - though I thought i’d missed half the year with the date that first flashed up. . Love the clarity of your camera, just amazing to watch. Sue

Great quality stream, Matt. Really good angle on the camera, too. I think overhead is great for the early stages Pete, but I do like the sideview when they start to get a little bigger. Very hard to count eggs and chicks on the sideview though, and often blocked from a clear view by the edge of the nest cup, so they are both a bit of a compromise. Multiple cameras required!

Ooo multiple cameras.... now there's a thought Something for next year, maybe - if I can manage to buy another raspberry pi or two in time (and the other bits, and have the time to actually work out a plan for it!). I bet if I did manage it, the BTs would choose somewhere else to nest and prove that this year's events were a fluke one-off!

This is always the risk! I have too many boxes as it is, so which one to put the upgraded camera in? I noticed recently that they now have an even higher resolution pi camera with auto focus - just what I need! Unfortunately not in time for this year but definitely picking up a couple for next year.
