Omg Matt, this is intriguing. Maybe the wrens nest got disturbed somehow and mum has managed to find your ready made new home for them. Just hope there can somehow be a good outcome for both the wrens and robin. Have you a spare box you can put near in the hope one of them will accept this . Really is a strange one. Good luck Sue

We just had a downpour, which I was glad of for my garden. Do you know if there is still a few weeks left for great tits to have a second brood .?

Robin returned about 5.30 this morning and asked the wrens to leave, which they did (quickly) - no fisticuffs! After sitting in the nest for about three hours non-stop, she has just left to reveal this - we go again! We had a heavy storm in the middle of the night, so at least the wrens spent the night dry.

SO the wren family came back again last night, slept for the night and got kicked out again by the robin at about 5.30 this morning. The robin then went on to lay another egg!

What an amazing sequence. Never heard anything like it. Wonder what Springwatch would think or if they’ve ever heard of this happening. Wonder if it will continue ? Sue

Well the wrens didn't come back last night, so I wish them well! It certainly was a strange episode! Three eggs now for the Robin, after she laid another one this morning:

Robin's nest stream is up, for now at least (if vid below has expired, click link in my sig). Not much happening because she arrives to lay an egg in the morning and then simply leaves until the next morning. As far as I can tell, she doesn't hasn't been back during the day at all so far..

Wonderful goings on at your place Matt! it's all very exciting we only have sparrows now but no camera in the box to see what is going on and the starlings haven't returned for a second brood like they did last year.

AMAZING stuff Matt - so great to get such quirky goings on with the wrens. Brilliant pics as ever! And that BT fledging vid was lovely. So pleased it's all happening at yours.

Well the robin did not return this morning to lay another egg, and in fact hasn't been seen at all since leaving after laying egg number three yesterday morning. Any thoughts from those with robin experience?

Don't worry Matt, Mine did that this year for the first brood. She actually missed two days before laying her 4th and final egg!

OK thanks Paul - very interesting. Definitely not in any hurry this bird, that's for sure! A no show again today, and she hasn't even popped back to the nest once since she laid that third egg.

All very unpredictable like the weather which has been very changeable here She will be back, she must feel happy the eggs are in a safe place

So 4 days without a visit from the robin now.. I suppose anything is possible (especially this year!!), but it seems a little improbable to me that she will return now?

Does seem strange that is been left, your probably thinking like me that the wrens had upset the flow of the robin keeping an active nest Like you say Matt anything’s possible this year

Yep - thought the wrens might disturb her, but then she came back and laid both times after they had been. Perhaps she had those eggs in her and just had to get them out somewhere anyway? Who knows.. anything could have happened I suppose, I haven't actually seen the robin around in the garden at all since the last time she was in the nest. If she doesn't come back for another few days, I am wondering if I should do anything about the eggs?

Such a pity, times like this we need a crystal ball to see what their plan is. With regards to the eggs, do you mean remove them from the nest?
