Thanks for the update re ‘your’ sparrow Paul - have you given it a name? Maybe ‘Pal’ because without ‘u’ it wouldn’t have survived. Hope you get what I mean . Bet you are going to have a real battle with yourself letting it go. Let’s hope killer sparrow looks after her own chicks, though I can’t have any nice feelings for her. Sue

All super -duper then Paul brilliant! Sparrows here are nesting again wonder if any killer ones are on the loose. It's a kind of infanticide isn't it? I've now got empty nest syndrome

Thanks for the latest news Paul & in my humble opinion, the name Killer Sparrow should be her permanent name - no excuses from her will be accepted by me for killing the first wife's chicks. If that happened in our world, that means I would have killed my husband's two children (as his ex left them with him) & I certainly would never have allowed my ex & his second wife to even see my daughter!

Just caught up with your news, so awful for the Sparrows, so sad the little one didnt make it, but like sue said you showed it kindness and gave it safety in its final days, the other one I hope will go on and have lots of babies of its own, thanks to you. I am sure it will stick around and visit you. Well done Paul.

Aaargh - what a little beauty he/she is! As Beechnut says, it will miss you too & it is going to be heartbreaking for you when you do what you have to do, but as you know - it will have to be done 'cos you always put your birds welfare in front of your own feelings.

Beautiful photos Paul. Does your cat approve of a sparrow eating out of its bowl? Not sure it will want to leave with the wonderful treatment it’s getting from you. Sue

Looks great Paul, you could always get a ‘Budgie’ to replace it, when it fledges Great all your remaining bluetits fledged successfully....Just saw a tweet from ‘BTO’ on Twitter that bluetits can live up to 10 years and Great Tits can live up to 13 years!! So hope you have 10 different colored rings for your birds Paul

Brilliant photos Paul, I’m pretty sure this little one won’t forget you! When you let him/her go, I will be intrigued to see if it remembers you in the wild and will return to your garden & be more friendly with you than the average sparrow You never know he/she may well return to your door wanting his/her mealworms good of luck with the release Paul Elle xx

I've only just managed to check in here now Paul, as hubby has had terrible problems with his laptop & I had to sort it all out - had to do a factory reset. OK, you know by now that I saw this video clip on Twitter this morning so now I will repeat more or less what I said in my reply to you, plus a bit more! I asked if it was your killer sparrow (which you have now confirmed) so although she is a good mum, she's a horrible bird, so I won't be clicking the like button on here either on any messages about her - nor will I post any messages on here about her & her family!
Good luck with your lovely sparrow, your friend, this weekend when you have to let go - I do hope he/she comes back to see you - have you given him/her a name?

Hi Paul, did your little pal get away yesterday? If so hope you and the little one are both ok after your goodbyes - or is he/she still with you? Must be a hard decision as to when the time is right, but you have done everything and more that you can for this sweet little sparrow. Sue

Yes, I was also wondering if you had managed to let go of your little friend Paul, so will you put Sue & me out of our misery with an answer when you have a spare minute please, as we're both doing this?

Sorry for the delay in replying been super busy, Yes the little sparrows now fledged in our back garden. I didn't see him / her for the first day however yesterday he / she was on the sunflower heart feeder with a bunch of sparrows. I don't know if they will survive in the wild but it looks good so far, I did all I could of it and if they do survive i'll always know due to its white ring. Our second sparrow broods got 4 babies now, She's such a good mum and Dad is also good, I know she tried to kill my other chicks but I guess thats nature isn't it cruel but nature, If we didn't have cameras in our boxes we wouldn't know this stuff. But the new pair very good bringing food in for the their chicks, I'll post little video below along with a picture.

Love the video and picture Paul. She’s certainly got a super deep nest cup. Can’t see any of those chicks getting kicked out . So glad your little pal has teamed up with some buddies and that it’s feeding itself ok. Nice you’ve ringed it so you’ll always know it’s around. Bet you are really chuffed after all your hard work.

Paul for putting us out of our misery about 'little white ring' & I'm pleased, relieved & overjoyed for you that you have seen him/her with some buddies feeding OK. As for killer sparrow & her family - as I mentioned before in a previous message - not watched video & no comment!

Thank you for the update Paul, and so so pleased your little sparrow is fledged and feeding. You’ve done all you can and now it’s down to the little him or her self. Glad it would appear to be mixing with others with no battles - as that was my biggest fear. Will learn from watching the others and their parents so sound brilliant at the moment. . Sound good with the new sparrow family but I am like Diane, still a bit peeved at her. Of course you are right, it is nature and we wouldn’t know without these cameras BUT still don’t like it, especially as they could have chosen another box. However I wish her babies well as none of this was their fault, so let’s hope they go on to fledge successfully and have a good life. Sue

I have at last had time to catch up with some posts. And the pics are lovely. We still have a BT in during most nights and out again in the morning in our cam box. We wonder where it goes the nights it doesn't. There are plenty of sparrows around coming to the feeder. I'll be looking for sales on boxes and cams so we can put more up next year.

Another little sparrow update, All 4 chicks still doing very well. Video and picture below! Really happy with the quality of the videos and pictures in this box this year thanks to the led light. You can see how much detail a sparrow as, Instead of just that "Brown" bird they're actually beautiful birds.
