Helen, 6 I think hard to tell with them all being on top of eachother but looks like 6 (I think) Ann, I don't follow the footy or like it to be honest, Never been something I have been interested in find it so boring even as a child, So no excitement from me with that, My dad is a massive Liverpool fan though along with most of my family so they're pretty happy. P.s sorry didn't realise you asked about footy Elle when I answered you and Taz on the last page just seen then guess this answers it for you aswell sorry to disappoint on the footy scene.

Bloody hell, The drama I have just had in the last 30 minutes! You couldn't write it I swear. Tatty was making cup wider tossing the chicks about as doing it she tossed one right out the nest. The chick climbed to front of the nest by the hole mum and dad left it and was feeding the others. After 30 minutes of seeing this chick is going get left overnight and die, I climbed up on the shed fell back down as I did on my arse due to the metal roof being slippy with the rain. Opened the front of the box and put the chick back into the cup ( can confirm 7 chicks now haha) Tatty was sat on the branch above me watching me, She didn't alarm call she didn't do none that. I put front back on the box and before I even got down off the shed she was back into the box. I am going to take that as a sign she knew she needed help and wasn't worried about my being near the nest. Pictures below first one is off the chick outside the cup off the camera inside the box second picture is inside the box when I opened it off my phone camera and 3rd is tatty back on her 7th chicks. That is enough drama for one day, I am soaked, My arse is killing but my chicks are safe that is the main thing!

Paul, you super hero yahoo_clap . Sorry to say I laughed at your antics - but I promise not for long . Thank goodness you are not badly hurt - seriously could be a lot worse. I know your birds mean everything to you, but be careful please - I mean, what would happen to this forum without you . Sorry Paul, I really do hope you are ok , and hope Tatty is really grateful. Sue

Ann, Are you suggesting I act up to Cheryl for extra TLC here? I'll be fine probably just have bruising in unusual places should we say Sue, I think the only react to it is laugh isn't it? I mean the things we do for these birds, What is abit of pain or bruising after saving a little life? Lets hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon!

Omg Paul, I know I’m laughing, but if I’d have seen that in my box I think my ar*e would have fell out!!! A chick of mine has got out in the past so I know exactly what your reaction would have been, pure panic The thing is I can picture you trying to scramble up the shed Im glad you managed to get it back in, I dread to think if it would have happened at bedtime, and Tatty in for the night!!! I think the birds this year are certainly leaving all our nerves in shreds anyway fingers crossed no more dramas Elle xx

Glad you got a laugh out of it Elle, I left it for 30minutes and just watched, Mum did make some half arsed attempts to get it back in the cup but as soon as it was out her reach she give up. All other chicks was being fed and I just knew if I didn't act fast it would of spent the night outside the cup and died. Like you said good job it didn't happen near dusk or I would of just had to accept losing 1.

Is that what they really mean by a pain in the arse Paul ? Seriously though - the things we do for our birds. Glad everything turned out OK in the end it will be a talking point no doubt! I had a similar event, without any human involvement, a few years back when one of the chicks was accidently pulled out of the cup by a parent as they left the box after a feed. It lay there for some time being totally ignored by the parents as they came in and out feeding the chicks in the cup, until it somehow wriggled and writhed its way back. It is odd that anything outside the cup, certainly at only a day or two after hatching, is not recognised as being part of the clutch!

Paul I hope the pain has eased and you've done no lasting damage. The image though is comical and should be a lesson to you to take more care. Sometimes this nest watching should come with multiple health warnings.

Oh goodness Paul. Hope you’re keeping a diary of this years events. Should keep you laughing for a few years 😂 Glad you weren’t too badly hurt and here’s hoping the bum is on the mend. I wasn’t going to mention it because I thought people on the forum would be cross that I’d interfered but we had three chicks out and I did same as you . I could see why they rolled out easily as the nest slopes to the front. After I’d. Put them in I got some hay and stuffed it under the front of the nest near the front wall. Seems to have worked ok. As you say I couldnt bare to see them die.

And all because the lady loves Milk Tray ... .... but in your case, hero of the hour is more apt! I'm sorry you hurt so much & I hope it's not too long before you're feeling OK again, but like the others I had to laugh (same as when someone slips on a banana skin & the first reaction is laughter, but then concern comes after that of course. Hope you don't have to do this again though, 'cos next time you may not be so lucky & although you love all your bird families, you have to put yourself first. for the lovely photos, update & good news about Tatty's brood.

Ann, Female Wren hasn't picked the nest as of yet, I am not holding much hope to be honest, Nothing like the blue tit. Male wren builds up to 7 nests and lets the female choose one. She will then line the nest with feathers and start laying, Our nest is fully build but not lined which shows she hasn't picked it. Everything is going good for the blue tits now, Drama free! Here's some pictures of Tatty using the Scott feeder, She loves the mealworms now. Sometimes in and out with mealworms 10 times within a few minutes (scott feeder isn't far from the nestbox) Male however is bringing more natural food in and only waxworms but Tatty is relying on the mealworms for all her feeding. I'll do sparrow update soon, We lost one sadly I don't know how it died it was the biggest one of them all, I think the mum and dad give it something bad to eat or something big and chocked it. I had to remove its body today, Other 2 are doing fine though full of feathers and eyes open. I'll do update on remaining two after the weekend. Anyway Tatty in the scott feeder..
