That is fabulous news with all your boxes, fab pics of the wren box. Tatty is doing very well too. I have lots of birds visiting the garden, the goldfinches are on a conveyer belt for the soft nesting that I have out in a old feeder, even the great tits are in the garden and not being chased off so much. The leaves are out on the Beech tree so they are camouflaged
I look forward to some more pics Paul, they are fab

Thanks Amanda, Can't see nothing on the camera now, Wren as started to make it into a dome. I'll check on the nest every few days, If the female picks it she will line it with feathers if / when this happens I'll put a camera facing the nest box so I can see the comings and goings. Hopefully get some nest clips of the chicks when they have their heads out the hole of the nest and during fledging.

Paul, what a beautiful garden. No wonder you have so many birds. Am amazed that you call it ‘small’, looks huge to me. Very envious of your ponds, we used to have a lovely koi pond at a previous home and I loved it. All gorgeous yahoo_clap Sue

Its really not that big to be honest Sue, Here's a picture taken from one of the loft windows, You can see both gardens. Here's the little gate in the middle I put up to separate the gardens, One side of the garden is simply just all for the "big pond" and other side of garden is for our daily use my bird feeders etc. I wouldn't really class it as big, I have seen people on here with bigger gardens. I guess it maybe big to some people but its pretty small to me, I do wish it was huge though!

In a word - WOW!!! so much for all those wonderful photos you've put on! Your garden does look huge though, if you had ours which you say is bigger than yours, what wonders would you do with it! Have to go out now, so will have to catch up with other boxes on at the moment later or possibly tomorrow. I'll also put a piccie on in my bit of the forum, to show you what my Easter present was from my husband.

I wonder if they will put nest boxes in those ones too.? Our fields local to us are being developed, sad to see the countryside getting swallowed up.

Paul I'm just so loving your garden and your psychedelic sparrow nest. Our garden is small but the birds make full use of it thankfully. We sometimes complain of the aching bones caused by gardening but it is so worthwhile and we are blessed to have a garden at all aren't we?

Karen, Isn't to bad by ours, Not so much building on countryside just old buildings like schools no longer in use. I doubt they will put more boxes though, I think they only did that on the old houses when doing the roofs because they was taken nest places up. So doubt they will do this on the new houses i'll have a look once they're fully complete though. Sammi, Glad you like the colourful sparrow nest, Looks good doesn't it? well pleased she used the feathers! Thank you for nice comment about my back garden aswell! Kathy, Tatty is still laying and doing a good job of hiding the eggs, When she starts incubating I'll do a little video update should only be few more days of laying now.

Loving the psychedelic (don’t know if that’s how it’s spelt ) nest . Obviously the sparrows like a bit of colour too - very bohemian. . Obviously going to have a party with lighting as well. Now for the music - what was that song? ‘ I’m only a poor little sparrow, no colourful feathers have I ‘ - they are so wrong now Sue

Wow!!! Your garden is amazing Paul, and you call it small??!!!! Would love to have your garden, as you all well know, mine is about 14 x 14, but this proves, it doesn’t matter if you have a big garden or small garden, the birds don’t take preference, I think it’s just pure luck loving the sparrows with the crazy colours, wished I would av thought to do that see Tatty is still doing well Elle xx

Brilliant garden Paul. Looks like you really got into your ponds. That is some substantial building covering your pumps. Did you build it?

Would look nothing like that if I done it Benn Guys who made the pond done it, All my filters are protected by decking over them and under the ground well under the decking as its built up from the ground this just give it that extra protection and stopped the decking rotting over the years etc. Now all the bushes and trees grown its made a perfect place for the nesting birds, That was my goal around the big pond area, As I do have cats and that is why I made it totally shut off from our "normal garden" with just the gate in the fence to access through, Cats never go over that side of the garden either in our normal back for a hour or 2 or go over on the waste land little bit at the back of the garden which is very overgrown with trees etc so perfect for the wildlife. We actually have foxes at the back on the waste land part, So safe to say the cats don't stay over the backs for long! Biggest problem for the nesting birds this years been the magpies They've raided my blackbird nest took the eggs and my goldfinch nest both these nest being by the big pond. So far they have left the woodpigeons and doves alone. I don't know if thats just due to them being bigger birds so not easily scared off the nest. I'll see where the little wren nest goes now, Hopefully the female picks it. If she does I think they will survive the magpies due to where they have built shouldn't be able to find it thankfully.

Yes. I've only just this morning read the new posts on the Garden visitor/ nest threads. I detest those black and white birds. We had a singing Song Thrush for the first time last year up at the farmhouse at the back. It is absent this year. We have seven Magpie nests within the one square mile around our house. The open nests and fledglings take a hammering!

Tatty started incubating this morning, 8 eggs, I mean she could have an 9th one in the morning to complete the brood but she is sitting tight so far. Romeo is bringing caterpillars, flys, spiders you name it in to feed her all the time I think he's going to be a good dad! Here's a video if you get chance give it a watch some really lovely moments between them and as always I'll stick a few pictures below aswell. P.s you can only see 7 eggs on video but picture below will show all 8

Great video and pics Paul - at least you've got a sizeable clutch from Tatty to make up for the shortfall in the number of nests for you this year.

Yes Beechnut, Just 1 blue tit nest and the sparrow nests this year for me. My "norm" is normally 2 blue tits and sparrows, I did have second female building in 3 boxes and waited until she really settled down before bringing it up fully did touch on it during visits, But haven't seen her for over a week now, The male was coming to the box she brought most material into looking for her for few days before giving up. So I am guessing she ended up dying, Sad but these little birds are so vulnerable. I am very happy with the 1 blue tit nest and the sparrows plus all the other nests around the garden. Can't be greedy when some members don't even have a nest this year that did last year. Hope your GT's still doing well!

8 eggs for Tatty fantastic, maybe another one tomorrow? Flo catching up but she has been in and out sitting on her eggs this afternoon but don't think she is incubating yet. I have put out my live mealies and within seconds of me going inside to watch down came the BT's so hope one was at least our nesters! Sparrows had most at this sitting!
