Paul congrats on the first egg, I'm so pleased for you here's to many more! Sorry that I'm so behind with everyone, office move hard work co's we have one year to go to retiring now so just keeping on one small unit, but lots to sort through. We have to keep all paperwork for 7 years so need storage too. I am absolutely wacked chuck so apologies for not being on the ball with everyone's news. Will try over the next few days & Easter to catch up.

I’ve just noticed Paul, is this egg on the bare wood?? Elle xx

Yes Elle, She lays on bare wood every year, She also doing exactly what did she last year. Laying an egg every 3 / 4 days, Only 2 eggs at moment and not incubating. I am expecting 3rd egg tomorrow, Really weird how for the past 2 years shes had such big gaps between eggs. I'll have to ask RSPB / BTO is this common, Because this is the second year running its happened. Here's a little video update on the male this morning covering the two eggs, They have alot material under them now no longer bare wood. However she does lay the first egg every year on bare wood.

100% only two Elle, They don't hide them much like BT's Just some feathers over them which is usually knocked off when female comes in and wing wriggles. She did same last year, The first egg was laid and 4 days later 2nd, Maybe even 5 days later to be honest. All hatched and everything was fine but still pretty strange behaviour.

Thanks Matt, Beechnut and Sue, yes sue I know what she’s happening with tatty now, Only took me to climb on top of the shed so I was on level with the box in the tree and undo the front of the box and remove the top layer wool to see what was underneath or I’d still be guessing! Sadly haven’t got it in me to play guessing games so had a peek

i would be tempted to have a peek, but i don't want to upset things , so i will continue to play the guessing game, i wonder if this warm weather will bring me a visitor to my camera box, that would be wonderful news to see, maybe still a chance

Ann, Even with a camera box sometimes you don't know what is going on if they cover the eggs, I have been clueless over Tatty because she covers the cup, That is why I had a peek. She will expose them all for the camera once she's fully laid but I just couldn't wait!
