Ok the mystery of the chirping sparrow has been solved! we have a claimant on the triple nest chamber I have on the side of the house, caught him going in the central hole at the front of the box yesterday with a bit of material sadly there is no camera in this box, I don't think he is paired yet due to the racket he has been making but will see if I can spot a female at some point! it's funny as I had originally put this box up in 2016 for sparrows but none ever went near it though the first year we did have a bluetit nest and then it was used for roosting only by bluetits in the subsequent years. Managed to snap this pic of him at the box yesterday:

Brilliant - interesting to see nesting so late in the season. How is this box arranged? Looks quite intricate from what I can see of the front there. No joy in my sparrow/starling boxes, but I did get a few males singing from them for a while, and even the odd female take a quick look in - they were unimpressed tho!!

An update on the boxes our two are still doing well and should be ready to fledge any day now looking at them, the starlings from the front have finally all gone today and are flying around with their parents as we speak, we have another nesting attempt in the tree starling box by a pair, not sure if it is the same pair that originally tried to nest, fingers crossed it all goes well this time! Not too sure what is going on with the sparrows, I think they may have given up as haven't seen or heard much activity from there. The great tits at the allotment box sound like they are ready to go any day now too. Here is a pic of our two today videos are coming out mostly dark now as they are getting in the way of the entrance hole cutting the light out!

Just to let you know the two starling chicks successfully fledged this morning, fingers crossed they continue to do well with both parents in assistance Dad was just back in the nest box a moment ago looking like he was tidying up, second brood perhaps The tree box is still having a nest built with 2 starlings present and it appears I may have another nest in the making but don't want to jinx anything too much but a pair of dunnocks have suddenly arrived and I have seen the female taking nesting material into a conifer in my back garden so will report back on that one!

Thank you Taz, me too Got a pic of the cheeky male Dunnock, keeps tapping on my window! I guess he doesn't like his reflection they are still building in the conifer but a magpie has been watching them closely so not sure if anything will come of it have been chasing it out when I see it. The conifer is the one just to left of the male bird in the pic, the female is building quite high up around 7ft or so!

Thought I'd update you all on how things are going here, the dunnocks are on eggs in the conifer, fingers crossed all goes well for them. We have another brood going on with the starlings in the camera box! 3 eggs so far and the tree box is also looking good for a nest, hopefully successful this time! the starlings at the front of the house may be on another brood too but I'm not able to monitor that one as closely but will know when the chicks hatch. There is a robin nest somewhere close by but I am not sure where so hopefully will see them soon too, I have been keeping the magpies busy with eggs from my quails as I have far too many so hopefully it will keep them off the dunnocks.
