I’m literally bobbing in quickly to keep you all updated. I think we have 7 hatched or maybe 8, but we have defo got 3 unmatched that I can see underneath them. My mealworms actually arrived Saturday late afternoon so I got them out quick as poss, i soon realised they wasn’t going to use the Scott feeders no matter what, and still up to now they aren’t using them, problem is that I put mealworms out and all birds in neighbourhood is helping themselves & also when it’s rained the tubs fill with water and I think the mealworms are drowning I tried to cover them but then Mr & Mrs wouldn’t come for them, I’m in a catch 22! im not sure I’ll need them anymore anyway, cos mum didn’t come home tonight, reason being, there was a magpie helping itself to the mealworms, I noticed it was here yesterday aswel. This was a picture from this afternoon, I’m still not sure if there aren’t another 1 or 2 underneath them moving, my hubby & I thinks there is more than you can see. . keep all your fingers crossed for them and hopefully mum will be back first thing, and hopefully they last the night and don’t freeze The parents were working brilliantly as a team, I just can’t believe it. Elle xx

Sad news folks, mum never came back this morning, dad has been coming back a few times with food but not going in. My hubby switched tv on to look and switched it off & told me don’t look, it’s over so I did the obvs & switched on myself, well I just broke down a nest full of dead babies, I’m absolutely devastated to say the least. so if you don’t mind, I won’t be coming on the forum anymore this year, I’m so gutted, all the emotions, wondering what went wrong so good luck to all the ones who did finally get a nest, and hope everything goes well for you. sorry folks I honestly can’t bear to see anyone’s nests xx Elle xx

Oh Elle That is so sad and awful for you to witness Nature can be so cruel sometimes, I would be exactly the same if that happened here!

Elle, bless you, my heart goes out to you. We build ourselves up each year and when something like this happens it is absolutely gut wrenching. Please know we are thinking of you and do understand as only like minded people can do. Why we put ourselves through this each year is the ultimate question and I know how hard it is to ‘get back on the bike’ so to speak. So so sorry, wish there were some magic words but I can find none. 😥😢 Sue
