Hi all, just popped on the site to let everyone know there will be no boxes for me this season. Very disappointing but I will try to keep up with all the boxes I know you all will have. Am surprised to see lots of you have activity already and want to wish you all the very best of luck. An especial big good luck to Matt with your super three hole boxes, so glad they have worked and well done for making such an excellent job of them - very clever . Do hope everyone has kept well through this pandemic and please stay that way My year has been one of frustration - we put our bungalow on the market and sold 3 times but each time the chain collapsed and hence our purchase along with it. We then decided to sell without having a purchase in progress so we weren’t let down again by any chain problems. We finally sold and we are now in temporary accommodation whilst we look for the right flat for us - easier said than done - first flat we liked we were gazumped on. Second attempt we had to abort as previous owners had taken out equity release on it and we were dealing with 4 different solicitors and managements etc, after 15 weeks of no progress we gave up. We are now trying for a third time but looking very unlikely to be in and settled in time to erect a bird box for this season. Just keeping everything crossed that this finally happens for us. Anyway that’s the gist of what has been happening. Am going to be very envious of you all, but this was our decision - just didn’t expect such a nightmare . Will watch you all with interest - GOOD LUCK Sue

Oh Sue, what a nightmare! House moving is bad enough at the best of times, and these are not the best of times! At least you have completed one half of the transaction! Good luck with it, and hopefully we get a few nests on here between us that you can follow. Not much consolation maybe, but better than nothing - and better times ahead for you next year with any luck!

Sue - like the others, I'm so sorry to read about your moving problems, an absolute nightmare for you with your purchases & sale falling through like that. I used to work for a solicitor as book-keeper/cashier so I know all about the conveyancing side too. Having to deal with so many solicitors' on one of your attempts - I'm not surprised you pulled out! Anyway, all good wishes that you manage to not only find, but also successfully finally manage to buy a flat which you want.

Thank you Ann, Matt, Paul, Karen and Diane for your kind comments. I am looking forward to following all the nests on here but may not be as vocal as usual - probably to the relief of some . Please forgive me if I miss some of the twists and turns as will probably only be popping in occasionally until nesting starts in earnest. Will update when I get any definite news. Sue

sorry Sue I meant 'latish' which isn't a word I suppose. But maybe lavish is better. I think lockdown is getting to me

Hi Sue firstly, I’m sorry I didn’t reply to your email Sue it wasn’t intentional, but I had quite a stressful year last year and didn’t get 1 minute to myself so didn’t even get chance to come on here at all, I was trying to keep all family members sane over FaceTime, and believe me it was exhausting! This 2021 year is hopefully gonna be a positive one for everyone. Im glad your keeping well and safe, it has been a very testing time for all of us to say the least but more so for you by the sounds of it, seems you’ve had an awful lot to deal with. I do hope it won’t be long before you find your forever home & get settled very soon, then hopefully you’ll be back again in fine fettle! Take care Sue Elle xx

Hi Elle, good to see you back on the forum. I only pop in from time to time but will be on more often when all the action starts in earnest (or should that he Er nest lol) . Seems a few have started building which is good, and lovely to see new members. We are finally moving into our flat on Tuesday next week. So much to do but will be glad to be settled. Bit late to think of a nest box but may stick one up in case of a late nester - will be fun to test out any bird population anyway. Wishing all on here good luck in getting that longed for nest. Sue

So glad you've finally found a place Sue, Good luck with the move on Tuesday! I hope you settle in quickly, If you find a place for a nest box put one up, You never know they could make use of it if nest sites in the area are limited!

Hi Elle, well the move went well but so much to do in the flat and boxes up to our ears - how did I ever think all this rubbish would fit into a flat . Finally found my bird box today and got hubby to put it up on the balcony, however I have yet to come across the wires etc - so many boxes and really not much hope but it is up at least. Sue

So glad the move went smooth Sue, well just take your time and relax a little. As long as the box is up for now, at least they’ll get used to seeing it there for next year hopefully.
Good luck with the unpacking though Sue

Glad the move went well Sue and that the important unpacking (bird box) has been done. Enjoy your new home. We have often talked if downsizing to a small easily maintained flat but we have so much junk that would need sorting it puts us off

Thanks Elle, Kathy and Sammi. HUGE change for us, but am sure it’s the right thing. At least it will be when we find enough homes for everything . Going to miss my birds if they don’t get interested in balcony life ! None visited here yet but I have seen them about, so hopeful for next year. Am enjoying trying to catch up on this wonderful forum though and that will have to fulfill my passion this year. Sue

Sue & Ann, it's such a shame for both of you being in the same boat, but as you've said, you can both come here & at least see successes which others will have. Wishing you both all the in the World for next year.

Ann, Diane and Paul. I didn’t expect any success this year with having just got a box up Ann but feel really sorry for you . Diane and Paul, I am definitely geared up for next year, but don’t think a balcony is really the ideal place for a nest - however I shall be hoping. . Sue
