I am going to Northumberland this year, one of the day trips I plan is a trip to the Farne Islands, always wanted to see the Puffins!

We stayed in Craster a small quiet place along the coast. You get the boat from Seahouses and I recommend going with 'Serenity' Catamaran boat crew there is a loo on board unlike some of the other companies where its bucket and chuck it! There are a few different types of trips and this was part of the 45min island tour where we met the seal colony. You see the Grace Darling lighthouse and St Cuthberts chapel. Do make an effort to go if you're up there it is well worth it plus they have a website so you can look at the weather and choose your day. Also I would definitely recommend taking some warm clothes with you even in mid summer it can get very chilly on the water!. P.S Puffins will have left by June after the breeding season but some birds like Cormorants stay a little longer. This pic was July.

Thanks for replying Kathy, but although we won't be able to go, daughter Debra (to whom you sent the lovely 2019 Calendar to for one of my Christmas presents from her) - she & her husband go to Seahouses with a couple of friends every October, so I'll copy your message & send it to her.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your gorgeous photos later on this year! Diane

A TOUR WITH HYACINTH BUCKET!!!
If you haven't been on this tour here is a very short clip to show you how covered the island rocks get while the birds are nesting, this is what they leave behind! Apparently I was told they get their nest material from the sea and rarely go to land to find it, this can include plastic! The sound is poor quality due to me getting buffered by the waves as it was so choppy. Also the date changes every time the battery goes flat and I forget to set it -typical me However, it was July 2018, hope you enjoy it anyway. Don't I sound awful? By the way the rocks are called Staple Sound.

Thanks Paul - would definitely recommend you take a trip sometime. Can't understand why the end of film shows other videos to watch, doesn't usually on any I posted before, is this Youtube doing this or our new site?

It looks wonderful Kathy & thanks for putting the clip on! yahoo_clap When I look at occasional videos on Youtube, yes, I always get the show other videos to watch when it finishes.

Thanks Diane, Northumberland is so gorgeous I have a special affection for it. But I must get a better camcorder and learn better skills at using it! By the way glad you liked the calendar.
