Just when you think things are sorted. The bluetits were in attendance this afternoon looking like they feel right at home. Not sure I want to put the camera on tomorrow

Oh dear Sammi, I understand why you're reluctant to put the camera on today I'm going to dread reading your next post but things will still be OK.

Well I did put the camera on today and it's still anyone's box. Jack was in earlier adding to the nest and Frank(?) was in most of the afternoon taking bits out. Thankfully the two didn't meet. Tomorrow is another day Whoever said watching birds was restful

Jack was hard at it most of the day with Jill popping in a few times so I think she approves of the box but she had a few alterations to make. You have to watch the bottom video first. The bluetit only made one visit today so I think it is sorted now. I hope they will use one of my other boxes but it was very quiet today in terms of bluetits

Laugh Sammi! You can just imagine her saying to Jack: "Thanks for helping but you've no idea about what goes where!"

I know they are just so funny. Today I watched the camera footage live and saw Jill take out an offending bit. Jack followed her out. I watched through the window and Jill dropped the offensive twig into the bush and flew off. Jack, bless him only went and retrieved it and flew straight back into the box with it. I wished I could have captured the outside footage as well. It was so funny to watch. I imagine Jill got the last word though. Very quiet with the bluetits but I seem to remember there is usually a very quiet spell before they start to nest

Love it sammi! Hope the BTs come back for you too. I agree regarding BTs having a quiet spell, it happened with my two last year, I gave up hope after weeks of barely no visits then hey presto they started building! Same happening right now for me again as well as Matts and springtimme66 too, really hope this will be the case and they come back to nest in April.

Well I was waiting to post better news but I think Jack may have lost his Jill. On Tuesday they spent many minutes just cuddling cosily in the nest. It had seemed like all steam ahead with the nest building but then all has gone quiet. Jack still comes in a few times a day but without any more nest material and today he chased off a bluetit. There has been no sign of Jill in the box. On Tuesday I saw a sparrow hawk flash passed the box maybe 2ft away but I didn't see if he caught anything. As luck would have it I'd turned off the dvr for an hour or two. otherwise I would have had a video of the hawk. Anyway hopefully Jill or Jill2 will appear soon.

Thanks Karen and Matt. When I saw the sparrowhawk I convinced myself there was nothing in claws or beak when he flew off but you know how fast they are . I'm hoping it's something that sparrows do.

Thanks Diane. Oh it's been a funny old day here. There has been a female sparrow who made one visit. But a pair of bluetits have been in today. One even took a bit if the sparrow nest out

Sammi, thanks for the clip & the updates, but I'm still hoping Jack & new mate will come back & carry on building a nest - not when the blue tits are there of course!
