Yes Paul I think Mr went in and then called to Mrs. "You have got to check this one out. It's even got a slide for the kids" I wonder if its last years' couple as the new box has replaced the one they used last year. A rooster still comes to the patio box and again like last year it seemed to start as a female rooster and then it went through a male messy phase and now it's spotless again with daily cleaning.

Thanks Karen,Diane and Ann ( I hope I've got all your names right! Memory a bit sluggish )I am on the one hand willing spring to come but at the same time not looking forward to empty nest syndrome I hope we all get a nest to focus on this year to get us through this mess of a situation.

Thanks Karen. We are fine thanks. We have a similar set up to last year. A rooster in the patio box. I'm sure it started off as a male and either changed sex or has a lady who comes in to clean.LOL There is a pair checking out the other boxes quite often. Not much sign of a great tit nest though. I really am wishing spring could last forever 🙂 Hope you are doing well.

Thanks Tommy. Definitely hotting up in the patio(roosting) box. There was a lovely singing moment yesterday. I hope the sound comes through. The female was viewing through the hole.

Hi Sammi Lovely video clip, lovely to hear her singing, she sounds pleased with the setting, hopefully that’s the home for her I’m sat looking at my boxes hoping to see some activity today.

Hi Springtime I think that was the male in the box and there was another bird clinging to the entrance. Later on the outside bird did venture in but after the other one had left. So I think he was trying to entice her in with his sweet melody hehe! I hope you see some action today. Its dry here for a change but very windy. I'm treating them to some early mealworms too which they're enjoying. What would we do without our little friends?

hi sammi i have sat and watched my bird boxes and nothing so far and i keep looking up when i pass, all quiet.lots of singing coming from them. its reasonable weather here, sunny spells and wet everywhere, Cant wait for it all to start it will give me something to focus on, I'm just waiting for the chance to get outside in the garden, lots of things are growing new shoots on lavender roses have loads and daffodils showing by a few inches. spring is on its way hopefully.

Bless him he has succeeded in enticing his lady friend into the box. He gets really excited and even does a hasty bit of tidying up.

Thanks all. Yes maybe Frank and Nancy this year . I now have a conundrum Last year we had robins nesting unsuccessfully In 2 places in our garden. The nest box where the nest lasted through to chick stage has been raised up and we are in the process of nestling it into the shrubbery and we have had great tits investigate it for a couple of days. Surely it's not safe enough for them. It's close to the hole in the wall where great tits nested years ago. I have a hole plate I can put back on but even then it's a very shallow box. What shall I do Honestly it's so frustrating as there are plenty of what I would think are very suitable boxes for them to choose from.

Hi sammi That’s interesting that great tits are looking at an open box and for a good inspection. I have a feeling they won’t use it, I maybe wrong or will they if the ivy grows over and make it more protected I’ll be interested with others views on this
