Well the first recorded visit to my boxes was a bluetit to the newly installed side view box...thank you Paul it seems a bit of liverpudlian luck came with it. I think I've had a great tit poking a beak in another box but annoyingly no popping in to view yet. I've no roosters yet this year.

Thanks Paul. I've got 4 round hole boxes and one open fronted robin box I've placed in a slightly higher spot than it was last year. I'm still thinking how I can deter predators though.

Nice to hear the updated news about all your boxes Sammi & let's hope the bird in the video clip decides to roost. & with all your other boxes too. P.S. You could ask a Cornish pisky or piskies to try & get rid of any predators - I have 7 Cornish piskies in our house (all pottery though & bought in St. Ives over the years. may be worth a bit in time as they all have certs from the sculptress!)

Good luck with your boxes. Hope you get a little rooster over Autumn and Winter I too am relocating a Robin box, got to be really mindful of predators. Cats are my main problem

This box has had a rooster for a couple of nights but not every night. Looks like there may be competition for this box

If there's competition Sammi, you should definitely get one roosting in your box!

My son and family are moving to a new house and he's asked about Kingfisher (make) nest boxes. They are on Amazon and quite a bargain. Has anyone any experience of these. It's hard to tell from pictures.

It looks like there is an outside chance for a Great Tit nest this year. This box is currently used by a female bt rooster.

Thanks folks. I am wishing time away till Spring with everything crossed for a nest. The garden sadly had a lot of pruning done to remove a massive overgrowth of clematis (which was spectacular but had caused the fences to give way) This means that the fences are now pretty much bare. I'm hoping this doesn't put them off too much. There is still plenty of cover though. Our rooster which I think is a male now does have nights when he doesn't turn up. Does anyone else find this? I hope everyone is well and that whatever kind of Christmas you have it is a happy and peaceful one. ❤

Hi Sammi. My rooster is a male I think as he doesn't clean up after himself, he has been known to spend the odd night away, but hasn't done lately, I think it is down to where they are when the sun goes down, if there territory is large he may just find a place close to him. I too looking forward to spring coming, hope next year is a more happy one. HAPPY XMAS TO YOU
