So not sure whats happening with my two, I have seen Kate picking up bits of fluff in the garden and dropping it not taking it anywhere that I have seen, but if she had got to the cup building stage somewhere or indeed covering a newly laid egg then wouldnt she be roosting overnight in her nest by now instead of our tree box? Hastings still comes searching for her at the tree box and she will pop her head in too. I am sooo confused!! Tomorrow will mark the day Molly started building a year ago by the way.

How frustrating for you Karen, these birds certainly do keep us guessing. Maybe tomorrow will be the day again . Must admit seems very strange behaviour as all indications are that they want your box so why don’t they just get on with it Sue

I know it is very frustrating, cant figure it out, I was sure that as she is still roosting each night then she may well chose it, but it may seem she has got a nest somewhere, they sure are sneaky as I havnt seen one hint of nest building!

I am clinging on to the hope that the weather has put a halt to nesting hormones or delayed the signs of growth in the oak trees. There has been so little activity in my boxes( apart from the sparrow box) that I keep checking they are set to record I hope that as the weather warms up you will see some nesting.

Fingers crossed sammi, it has been snowing here today we had a good covering earlier so I am sure the birds wont be too happy with that, hope for better weather soon.

I have noticed a Robin hanging around and today I have seen it taking leaves into the ivy over the neighbours fence, literally just at the other side, wish I could train a camera down there but think my neighbour wouldnt like his privacy impinged upon. I think it could be around the area where the hole is.

No not really Paul, she has been taking soft material somewhere but still roosts in our box, I think any day now she will be roosting in her nest ready to lay eggs. I was quite hopeful with having a female rooster but seems she has gone elsewhere to nest, although quite happy to roost here.

Don’t give up hope yet Karen, there is still a chance she could build in your Box, the female usually roosts in her nest a few days before egg laying, so she’s not at that stage yet anywhere else

I have seen her playing around with bits of soft material, havnt seen her take it anywhere, really expected her to roost in her nest if she is at the lining the cup stage but will see.
