Beautiful events to witness aren't they. Lucky you 🙂 we once went to Leighton Moss to see the murmuration and it was well worth the trip. We have a few areas locally but have never managed to get the timing right🤣

Morning all, just a quick question, does the sub zero temps affect your cameras, my tree box has been getting interference now and again, recording when not triggered and on play back there is interference on the screen, I am hoping its just the temps and not on its way out. Also I have noticed my FPS is lower than it is set at, ispy recommends 25 fps but mine of late fluctuates all over the place My pair keep visiting daily having a look in and rooster comes each night still, spring is around the corner

Hi Karen We have had some really low temps and hard frost, I would think it would play a part in the gremlins going on with your camera, I’m sure the knowledgable guys will put your right. I keep sitting watching for any activity at the boxes it’s rather quiet, hopefully this cold snap will disappear soon and things will progress Good to know that there is activity with your box and others on here

I have never had problems with the cameras in the cold weather Karen so can't really comment on that! I hope its due to the cold and not something else temps are starting to warm up from Monday so I guess you'll be able to tell from then on

No issues with mine in the cold either, Karen, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen! If your camera is giving up the ghost, or just playing up from a connection or something, then at least it is happening now and not during nesting, so you have a chance to get it fixed!

everybody, nothing of real note to report, rooster is still roosting which is 100% the female to my male (Hastings and Kate) she came in to roost this evening and she gave a little nest wriggle they are around the garden and feeders every day and are a joy to watch the forecast is awful for the rest of the week so dont expect much more activity. Im curious to know what are the chances that this rooster which began roosting in October is Molly who used the nest box last year?

Promising you have a female roosting Karen, Is the box still being cleaned? I think its likely it could be the same, You would know better because you see them all the time and know what they're like etc.

She is not the best housekeeper Paul, pops in one a week or so and takes out one poo I will need to look back at Molly on clips to see if there are any markings that stand out to compare to Kate, but I just thought to myself after having a successful brood in that box did she come back to roost to claim it again this year

Does any one on here have the garden nature pitched roof box? Is it a decent buy at 38.99 it would be the most I have ever spent on a box so would appreciate any info. I like it has the window and also mountings for the camera. Is it sturdy/durable? TIA

Hi Karen, yes i have one i'm using it for my robin box, they are built well but the wood is a bit soft so i would give it a coat of paint or varnish.

Well there has been some goings on this morning Hastings has had a male on his case and there has been lots of chasing about, the new male has been in the tree box and tried to entice a female inside she had a look but didnt enter, but think she may have had a look before him as a BT was in there earlier on and it didnt look like Kate, so its been nuts, it has been just the two of them for ages so I dontno how it will pan out, Hastings hasnt been usurped yet though as he has just been in the tree box as for his mate Kate I am not sure where she is I hope she comes to roost tonight

nail biting times indeed. Between downpours our bluetits have been house viewing too. No doubt they'll sort things out soon.

Thanks sammi indeed they will! I have been noticing a lot off activity in next doors garden too much for it to be just feeding so my hubby had an investigate and saw the old nest box has gone back up again at least it seem they like mine too and Kate roosts in it so I have a fighting chance

Good luck Karen, hope your neighbours aren’t so lucky, and they continue with your boxes, No one around here would notice the birds never mind feed them or put a box up, so I have no competition thankfully
