OK, pretty sure there are at least 3 eggs left to hatch - finally got a decent view this evening (they all have to be eggs, surely??), and have seen the 4 hatched chicks up togther quite a few times this afternoon. So 7 eggs laid, at least, and hopefully a few more hatchers tomorrow!

No sign of Tony anywhere near the box, Karen, bue he has been flitting about with his old squeeze. I think she is on her own here, but hopefully mealworms will get her through - and she doesn't have a huge brood (perhaps she knew Tony was going to be useless?). Seen 5 little heads pop up at once this morning - not sure if a 6th has hatched, or if 2 eggs remain (can still see one egg quite clearly).
eidt: deffo 2 eggs left, as well - just got a clear view.

Same situation here regarding males, one minute he shows interest nest minute he is off with other female, so will see what he does when they hatch. Yes I had a look earlier and saw 5 little mouths and two eggs I think. Perhaps they will come today, hopefully with your input with live food she will do just fine

Yeah, hopefully the mealworms will keep her going OK - she doesn't have to travel too far for them, anyway! Have noticed that she is bringing in some quite big ones, though. I was wondering when they do that thing where they constantly put the worm in and out of a chick's mouth, do you think they are squeezing the "juice" out for them? She quite often ends up eating the bigger ones herself, at the end. Definitely 5 chicks and 2 eggs, so 7 in total? Unless there's another hidden somewhere, but hard to believe - then again it is so hard to get a good view into that nest cup!

Yes they do seem big for them,I’m sure mum and chicks will sort it out. Maybe that is what she is doing when she takes it in and out of their mouth.not sure to be honest. They will thrive on mealworms and other things My single parent only had the natural food and 7 survived 😊

5 chicks, that's great. Maybe the other two will hatch today. My last two hatched 2 days after the first. 🤞

Can you remember the time Ann? I was trying to look after Karen mentioned it in the stream comments, but I couldn't find it - apart from what looked like her eating a bit of poo! Could have been egg tho.

At first I thought it was a poo sac then saw it again as an definite egg shell 12 26 or near enough I think I just saw another egg while chicks were lifting their heads i saw the egg again as she left
12 27 09 for sure

You might be right, Ann - looked a bit big for a poo, then again it looked a bit squishy and she only ate one bit, so who knows! Definitely at least one egg left, tho. Could see two quite clearly this morning and can't now, so there could be another baby in there!

Don’t know how you are managing to count them, they are wriggly little things and every time I try to count mum comes and gets in the way . Certainly looking strong Matt, and mum is doing a great job feeding regularly. You must be well pleased. Sue

Hard isn't it Sue?! I try and pause it when I see a lot of heads up, every now and then they all seem to go at the same time. Still not 100% certain on the full 6, though, but definitely seen 5 quite a few times, and there is still an egg knocking about (and being knocked about!) in there.

Managed to count 5 Matt but could well be another that isn’t as obvious. Wish they’d stay still for a headcount Sue

I did catch a glimpse of the egg this morning, so it is still there. Will it hatch today?? If so, 7, but 6 is still a great number and (hopefully!) a manageable number for her with mealworms on tap, but no help from that cad Tony!!
