Well, no bananas of course but she has had a busy day! I've been out all afternoon, but from what I have seen she has been in and out all day building, with Tony very much in attendance, and is roosting right now! Here's the last pic of the day before the lights went out. Fingers still crossed, it's been too crazy of a season so far!!

Hope things continue for you Matt, it’s looking closer to something positive happening. Is this the first night roosting in the box

What did I say about bananas Helen!!! She was building again this morning after roosting, but at about 7.00 there was another massive fight in the box. This one lasted 10 minutes, I haven't watched it all but it was nasty, again. Tony has been back looking for her since, but no sign of the female now in the last couple of hours. Fingers still crossed.. this is exactly what happened the first time

Well she hasn't been back yet, Paul, but Tony has been in looking for her every few minutes. Fingers well and truly crossed, she was bringing in soft materials this morning as well!! This second female needs taking out - I'm sure the nest would have continued the first time without the fight (same back then - she roosted the night before).

It might still be alright Matt, If your female got the better she will stay, I have had fights like that in the past and its gone either way the females moved to a different box in the garden or she just carried on. I'll have everything crossed for you, I'll be looking out for your posts! you out of everyone bloody deserve this nest

Awe Matt I have only just seen this, so exciting for you, but very stressful too, she must have gone like the clappers building for you, she got so far I do so hope she continues My Kate builds for a good few hours and then by 7.30 to 8 she goes off for quite a while.... I guess to feed and have a rest so I hope yours is doing the same and she will be back soon.

Mad isn't it Karen, it's worse than East Enders!! We'll know more today, I guess. So hoping she got the better of the interloper and resumes building. Hard to tell in the flurry of feathers which bird left the box first after the fight. For most of the time, they were just grappling in the box and hardly moving. I can only assume the attacker is the same bird that did it last time, and that she must be nesting nearby. I wonder if she is another one of Tony's?

Worse than any soap opera Matt. I have just been sat watching Hastings remove bark again and he also had his 2nd female in the box! Kate is still on her break so she is unaware at the moment, but I fear that there could be a fight if she comes back in middle of their shenanigans!

Cannot imagine what you are going through - sometime I wonder if it’s best having had no interest at all than all the ups and downs you’ve had . . Sue

Didn't realise everything had gone pear shaped Matt - I totally give up on this season, everything seems to be changing by the minute - good and bad! I still have a female rooster at night and have seen a visit during the day, but nothing like nest building - I think my 'waiting' will be until next year!!

I'm not sure what's better, Beechnut - lots of crazy action, or just no action? At least I could be getting on with things if it was the latter! No update from my end, female has been missing now for 4 1/2 hours, after spending the hour between 6-7 (the fight) building very busily, and moving on to soft furnishings. I guess we just have to wait and see, but it seems like a carbon copy repeat of two weeks ago.

Whoops, sorry for lack of updates! Been out til late last couple of nights. News from West Sussex is that either she, or another bird, came back late in the afternoon on Tuesday, resumed building, and roosted overnight. I honestly think it is a different bird to the one who was building/roosting the day before, but I don't know. When I get time, I might upload some comparison pics for Karen to take a look at! The morning after - amazing! - no fight. The first morning after a roosting without a fight. This female continued building, including lots of soft material (our dog hair!), roosted last night and this morning passed off again without incident. Not much building today, but more soft stuff, which makes me think the nest might be almost ready. She is roosting in the box again, now. Bringing in dog hair: Latest snap, about 15 mins ago - all tucked up! Nest is a mess!!
