Hi Matt
When I saw so much interest with the blue tits I was certain I was going to be lucky, but it wasn’t to be again.
I did see a great tit twice land on the front of the side view which I found odd as they have a nest somewhere in trees I think
Is he looking already for the 2 brood home, I’m sure it won’t be in my garden
It is hard to swallow Matt with so much interest and nest building started that’s even harder than not having anything happen

Yeah it certainly is frustrating Ann! And such a long wait until the next chance, although my wife has provisionally banned me from trying again so we'll see how that works out!

I know that feeling matt, my hubby said we weren't going to have a box because of the failures... So glad he relented. like you say, such a long time to wait until the next season, so frustrating when it looks promising but goes no further 🙁 |

Definitely been two females to the box, Paul, even at the same time (not including the fight). All quiet now, though, so I guess the decision has been made - for now!

Not sure about that, Ann. This is the third year in a row without a nest (yet), so I think she would have come round by now if she was going to. Really need a nest to get her interested!

Brilliant idea Paul, and while you are at it can you come here and train the birds to come to my lovely balcony and box waiting for them  - promise i’ll feed you well whilst you are here . Matt, I so feel your frustration. Year after year i’ve Wanted nothing more than to be able to watch nest building etc etc , and it has always evaded me. I know I have been lucky enough to have quite regular nests, but to be ‘in on the action’ would have been lovely just for once. My long suffering hubby has come round and knows it’s no good fighting with me as I just can’t give up hope that ‘one day’....... so am sure your wife WILL eventually see there is no use fighting the inevitable. |

Omg Matt this is so weird, I wonder what the reason is as to why they don’t want to build, you have such a variety of boxes so it can’t be that surely. Have you not seen nesting material being taken elsewhere, sorry if you’ve already answered this Matt.

Strange goings on indeed, Elle - it really was an odd sequence of events, which all started with the fight. Whichever female was left afterwards never really seemed settled, perhaps they were too shaken up?
Tony still pops in daily, for whatever reason, so if he does find himself another female perhaps he will bring her there? You never know!

They have been giving you lots of questions and not many answers Matt! I have had no visits in my boxes until yesterday. I have seen blue tits taking soft material from the hanger a couple of weeks ago, so I didn’t think anything was going to happen this year.....I’m still not convinced! Don’t give up just yet!
