First visit inside the new IP camera box, This video is with no led light! my led light for this box is on a separate lead in the garage, I wanted to see what the quality was like with no led turned on. so this is natural light only on a rainy cloudy day! This is the female bird, The male was bringing her in all morning, Had about 20 plus visits today by both of them! It shows they are already paired up and starting to look! Anyway here the video plus two still pictures! Hope you all have a lovely christmas and wishing you all the best for the new season ahead NOT LONG NOW!

Thank you Ann, Yes it was a busy day for them visit wise. Nice to see they're already paired up, Visits to the tree box always really pick up from next month so i'll get some footage with the led light on and see the difference.

More visits this morning, Was 3 blue tits by the tree box, The male chased the other one away while the females been in and out the box. Today is abit brighter still no led light on just 100% natural light from the bird box window in the roof, Probably leave the led light off until the leaves come on the tree and I need that extra light but so far the quality is brilliant without it. I won't bore you daily with all the visits this be the last video for a while

Paul that is fabulous quality for "no lights" - really, really good. I can't really imagine it will get too much better with lights, although as you say if the leaves start to put the box in shade it might help then. Good stuff! What is the actual make of this camera?

Paul, everything is wonderful as far as colour & clarity are concerned as you say - a nice surprise for you not having to use the LED light over Winter.

Thank you Matt, I am very impressed with it to be honest, The first video was yesterday while it was really dull and raining and today its abit brighter but still pretty dull no sunshine or nothing. It does say on the gardenature website though that the camera will still shoot full HD colour picture even in extremely low light so i'll put that to the test once the tree is covered in leaves! but at the moment the box does stay full colour right down to dusk before switching black and white so looks good in that department! Here is the link for the camera on the website so you can read about it - gardenature.co.uk/product/ip-nest-box-camera-onlyI think the led light will likely make the colours a little brighter but we will I am not expecting a dramatic difference! The gardenature flat roof boxes do have a large window right across the roof though, So it does let a fair bit of natural light in. Diane, Yes, I put my led light on a different cable for that reason. With it claiming it will give the same quality even in low light I wanted to test that out without the led light running! Led light will come in handy though when the tree is in full leave, because the leaves do hide the box very well during late spring / early summer. Great tit just went near the box and the blue tits chased it 4 gardens down hahaha female seems very interested at the moment visiting alot by herself with him outside keeping watch! I won't bore you all with the daily visit videos though, No more videos until in the new year when things start heating up!

I for one will never be bored of seeing the pics and videos. The clarity and colours are great. These days we are all clutching at straws to find uplifting things. Our feeders are full of birds today although the weather is awful. We get visits to the roosting box and I think there is a pair of bts interested. I'm not sure if I could stand a year without a nest.

Hi Paul Keep sending pictures and videos we all need something to focus on during this tough time. I’m sure all will agree it’s good to have your updates, it brightens up these awful dark wet dreary days, it just reminds us of nature carrying on regardless of whatever else is going on

Its more the case of all the videos just being the same, Its just little visits during the morning at the moment. I'll post little video updates next year when things heat up nest wriggles, pair of them in box together, nest building. But for now here is two close ups of her from today

Maybe trouble ahead, A male blue tit is trying to bring a new female into the box. Our usual female come in every morning between 9am - 10am This new female is very wary to come into the box, She did come in on her own when the male left but it was only for a few seconds.
Video here - Still no led lighting at this point.

A bit of competition by the sounds Paul, is the male you mention with the regular female you think?

Paul, lovely clear clip - we shouldn't be surprised at "may be trouble ahead" though - ALL the male blue tits have one thought in mind, that being "get as many birds as you can get, so I can have fun!

I have got 3 gardenature IP camera sets now, I have put them in my 3 most popular boxes. Tree box as you know, The front wall box which has been used a few times (including last year) and of course my sparrow box. I have decided not to put any led lights at all in my sparrow box / front wall box, I want to see how the camera performs all season without any lightening just natural lighting off windows. I have added 2 small windows in the sparrow box! My front wall box may struggle on rainy very dull days because the window is right by the eves so its not getting no where near the light that the tree box is getting but if it struggles this year i'll add lighting next year. Today its a dull frosty day and all the boxes are showing colour so not bad! This is a picture from my APP, I have them on the app and on the laptop, Also got motion detection set up on the app. I did want to try a greenfeathers IP camera (like Amanda's) to test it against the gardenature ones, However I have had nothing but trouble with greenfeathers, The set was delivered WITHOUT the camera because they sent it in such shit packaging that it ripped to bits and royal mail put it in a plastic royal mail bag and still delivered it even know parts was missing. In greenfeathers defends they did send out a new camera straight away for next day delivery, I get the camera and it doesn't work!! phone greenfeathers back to be told oh yes that sounds like a faulty camera send it back for replacement, I said no i am sending it back for a refund at this point haha Gardenature managed to get me an IP camera out within 24 hours so its been fitted in the sparrow box this morning! Sorry for the long post just been an ordeal the last few days all I can do now is sit back and wait for the season to start! All my remain boxes still have the standard set up of camera / led light its only these 3 that have been upgraded to IP cameras! Tree box is still getting daily visits

Looks like you are really set up for the spring. I'm really impressed with those cameras even without lighting. I had brief visit into the cornish flag side view box by a bluetit so I'm hoping for nesters in at least one box 😊

Paul, what a busy bee you've been doing all that lot - but well worth it from looking at your photos! Nothing happening here, only seen blackbirds in the garden today - if you can call it seeing. Heavy snow yesterday which froze overnight on all my bushes, now bent under the weight & foggy all day too. More snow expected tomorrow, if I was fit enough I would build a snowman.
Great news from you too Sammi - thanks for the update.

I have to say I have had great service from green feathers when I have used them, but not had anything from them for a long while, but so annoying when these things happen I think and hope 2021 will be a bumper year for the forum and of course the birds!

Same karen before this time, I never had a problem with my led lights from them but they was only small items. They packed a 20m lead, box with camera in and box with poe injector in just brown package paper, It was always going to head for problems. Then icing on the cake was the replacement camera being faulty, I was pissed off enough before we reached that point! Might try them again in the future give them a chance because I would like to try different IP cameras just wasn't meant to be this time clearly!

Hi Paul,
Have a good 2021 year, it must be better than last year, Interesting to see that with the IP camera you possibly dont need the lighting? Is the IP-camera the same as a wifi-camera ?, they dont sell the wifi-camera by Gardenature, are they? ?only Greenfeathers sell them ? You need a router for the IP-camera, can you also put the cabling in a modem? Take care, greetings Tom

Hi Tommie, The IP camera plugs into the back of your router, You can watch this set up video by Greenfeathers of their IP camera set. Its pretty much the same has gardenature you'll get more of an idea how you set them up when you watch the video
