Thank you everyone, I'll probably come on and off but it won't be as regular. Didn't want anyone worrying or wondering like last time x

Oh Paul, I am so sorry to read your sad news about your Uncle & my heart goes out to your little Nan, you & all your family. No words are sufficient to comfort you all but I do sympathise with your tragic loss. Your priority is to your family, so of course it's understandable that you'll take time off from here to put yourself & them first.

Ooh fab news Paul! Great stuff, I'm really glad to see that - really keen to see whether they are going to choose them next spring as well! I should update my thread as well, because I have now had a visit to my other 3 hole box, so at least I can say that they have all been visited now - although not much action in the last few days, and no roosters. Mind you, if they're not roosting I really wouldn't expect a lot of interest at this time of year but it is nice to know they have all been discovered.

Funeral on Thursday so tough week ahead. Yes Paul, it's going to be very hard for you all on Thursday - my thoughts are with you. Last week, it was the funeral of my husband's cousin in Kent & of course we couldn't attend, but the service was live streamed so we saw & heard everything - the first time I've ever seen it done like that. I just wish my nephew had done the same thing with my sister-in-law's funeral in May this year.

Busy day today, Finally swapped over my tree box with the new HD IP camera box (its same style box and colour - purple) This box gets used every year, So hopefully this year they don't let me down when I have the IP camera! Must say very impressed with the camera, You don't even need the LED light on to get amazing colour (I have the led lamp on a different cable didn't want it using the cameras power) Anyway here is pictures of the new IP camera this is with no led light on bear in mind its a cloudy grey day and this was near dusk! Put some little bits of twigs in to know when movement is taking place not going to have the camera on 24/7 you see P.s I painted the front wall of this box inside in a cream water based paint (safe for the birds) the purple paint dripped down and looked terrible Now on to the robin boxes, I have put 5 new robin boxes up, Be 6 in total around the garden now when you include the box the wren nest in last year. Some of these robin boxes are hidden in the ivy or behind our big trees and some are more exposed (wrens dont seem to mind them a little exposed) Robin box 1 this is in thick ivy its my old handykam box i'll post a picture of the ivy under it so you get an ideaRobin box 2! this is also in some thick ivy other the other side of the gardenRobin box 3! This is fence next to the shed, Its facing into the wall instead of out I thought the little wren might like this oneRobin box 4, This is down the side of the big pond behind the conifer tree / ivy
Robin box 5 this one is inside a huge conifer in the garden Well that is me done sorry for the super long post just a big update looking forward to see what the new season holds and seeing the IP camera in action!

Wow, busy boy Paul! Looks great, I dread to ask how many boxes that now is in total!! Any cameras in the robin boxes? Funnily enough I had a bluetit in my robin box a couple of days ago, just checking it out. So far just bluetits and great tits have been inside, but I have seen a robin in the general area.. I am just finishing up the two starling boxes now and hope to get them up at the weekend, weather permitting..

I have 15 boxes in total now Matt, 6 robin boxes, sparrow box, starling box, swift box and the rest are "tit" boxes 28mm and 32mm mix in holes.
None of the robin boxes currently have cameras in, But they can have if they are used my Robins, I think I have more chance of the Wren using them again so it will be camera outside the box set up.
Cant wait to see your starling boxes up and running Matt!

Hi Paul Good to see you back and so busy, you have an amazing garden with so many trees and cover for the birds. im not a fan of ivy at all but its so necessary for the birds, i watch the robins in a bush of ivy over the boundary fence. i have put a cherry blossom and an apple tree in the garden this year as it is very open, they are close to the feeders and they do go in them i do enjoy seeing the birds in the tress all around near my garden. i have been having a regular blue tit to my new box which im pleased about and even more if he takes up residence in the spring time. plenty of blue tits and great tits coming to the feeders, hopefully they use my 5 boxes that really would be a first if they are still around in the spring.

Cant wait to see your starling boxes up and running Matt! 15 boxes!! The incredible thing is, you seem to fill most of them as well.. I'll have 6 this year: 3x tit, 1 x robin (or whatever fancies it), and 2 x starling. I wasn't going to put a camera in the starling boxes because it was "too hard", but I have bitten the bullet and bought a POE (Power Over Ethernet) switch and will be able to run power/network the required distance now, so that did set things back a bit. Hopefully it will be worth the effort! The starling box I am most hopeful for is the one that is going over the hole in the wall that the starlings have used for the past two years. Hopefully they will be tricked into using the box instead.. I haven't updated my thread in a while, but I have been getting quite a few visits to the concrete boxes - I'll post some more pics soon, along with the starling boxes.

I actually know abit about POE now Matt, My tree box IP camera runs on POE, So simple to sent up and that is coming from me who is clueless! I look forward to you updating your thread with your visitors and the starling boxes! A little blue tit was popping its head in the tree box all day today teasing me, I want to see the quality of the IP camera without led lighting. I have the led lighting turned off in this box at the moment (running it on a different cable) colour looks like it will be brilliant even without the light and only natural light so just waiting now!

Love your update Paul, lots to look forward to next year, really hope the BTs dont let you down in your new ip box, will love to watch your live stream! The Robins are spoilt for choice! I still have my rooster staying each night, I witnessed some flirting in the trees earlier between the BTs so they already thinking about their new partners!

Paul With the changing milder winters is it a possibility that the birds will start nesting earlier in the new year, of course we still could have enter weather late. I’m seeing so much love is in the air with them across the gardens. So many of my roses are out and a clematis I expect it’s a case of watch this space to get the answer

Ann, Its very possible, It all depends if the trees come into bud early, Thats what blue tits rely on. Robins and blackbirds etc on the other hand so start early if its mild!
