I have spent today putting up new boxes and cleaning out old nests, So thought I'd start my 2021 thread early since the changes are for next year. First new box is by Matt, Kindly sent me one of his 3 hole stone all I had to do is add a camera and light and it was sorted! (thank you again Matt) Second box is the new gardenature starling box All I need to do now is swap over my "tree box" with the new IP camera set (same box same colour just brand new and IP HD camera) so I should be able to live stream next year. I'll be sorting this box out in the next week or so i'll update pictures of that once its done.

Looking good Paul! Can't wait to see if they will go for it - are you monitoring for visits yet? Hope to get my 2x 3 hole boxes up over the next couple of days, and also kick off my 2021 thread!

I have two roosting blue tits at moment Matt both female (keeping the boxes spotless) But I normally start getting a few messy males during October / November.
I don't have my boxes on at moment, I just turn them on during the night to see if the roosters are still with me so don't know about daytime visits.

Matt, Blue tit as already been on top of your stone box this morning eyeing it up. Probably been inside aswell, I noticed it flying from it while I was in the garden this morning!

Blimey Paul they don't hang about at your place do they! It seems to take weeks before my local birds pluck up the courage to go inside, although I did see a GT peering into the hold of the concrete sideview box this morning (it didn't go in though).

I've never had a rooster, YoursherLass! I don't mind if Paul gets one really, even it measn he has the first bird to enter one of the concrete boxes! At least I would know they like them!

We have a blue tit roosting in the new starling box Looks so tiny compared to the box, I think this was the one eyeing the 3 hole one up the other day because the starling box is like 10 foot across the wall and higher up right by the eves.

Hi Paul - as you say he looks adorable but also "like a pea on a drum" so to fill the space a bit, perhaps your other two roosters should move in there as well.

Aww Paul doesn't he/she look cosy down there. Well out of any draughts. They certainly make a claim on your boxes early don't they. News must have got around that they are in a prime location😊

Hey Paul, just wondered about your roosters, you say they keep the boxes clean so are probably female, when do they clean it... out each morning or every so often?, just asking to try and figure out if mine is a male or female, he/she been roosting a week now and there is a bit of poo in there not loads, does this sound like a male?

They are normally in and out during the day cleaning Karen, Most of it gets done in the morning. the males don't tend to bother cleaning at all so if your box gets very messy likely a male!

Not much been done in a morning, apart from preening itself for ages, so Im guessing male. Thanks Paul. Hope your little hoggy is going to be ok.

Hi Everyone, I know last time I didn't post for a while some people was worried, So I thought I'd do this post so everyone knows. This afternoon my nan found her son dead, This is the third kid she's lost in the last 20 years he was 52. My heart is broken and I am going to just take a break, Be with my family and support my little nan during yet again extreme heartache. I didn't want anyone worrying so I thought I'd let everyone know via this post, I might pop in in a few weeks but at the moment I need the break and need to heal. So nobody worry, I'll be fine just a dark time for the family.
